Was trading with all my accs fine like half an hour ago. Now it seems I cant trade anything (except obvious) just like before the patch. Is it disabled because of another clown found an exploit or am I missing something?
Thereās an update on Blizzard Support via Twitter! Cross-Realm Trading is temporarily disabled!
Much thanks
Well this sucksā¦I was really wanting to transfer gold to an alt >_>
This is a really serious problem at this point, was kinda expecting it would be fixed in 2h, but there are things I need to sell (and not only me, because I donāt certainly hold anything but a minor amount of these items in eu), one of which might end up being given away in the end of the month, and the fact cross realm trading is disabled makes it so much harder, itās been well over a day now with no news; when the discounted character transfers came up last month, I didnāt go for them cause I knew about the cross realm trading, wouldāve got a few if I had known it wouldāve bugged out and wouldāve been disabled for letās say a week, to make an example where itās seriously problematic.
Just guessing here but probably what happened was a thousand gold farmers started some large scale wealth transfer and overloaded the server/raised so many red flags blizzard shut it down until they can make sense of it all.
Possibly. But it could also just be the realms having trouble with the data sets between characters, causing items to get lost.
Or it can just be their potato server architecture. I didnāt have any issues with lost items when I was trading my items between realms whatsoever.
Almost 2 days later this major feature still isnt working, awesomeā¦
It is much more complex backstage than you think.
Apparently itās more complex than blizzard thought as well.
Iām just joking but still they should test it way better before going live
I know from other games that there sometimes you encounter bugs in the live product that didnāt appear during playtesting.
50 testers playtesting a game wonāt cause or find as many bugs as 7 million people on the live servers (not specifically meaning WoW here).
I wonder if they will ever explain how this feature correlates with realm stability
Data flow and file changes probably. After all, all data of characters and world is saved in value files. If too many have to change at the same time across all realms it can cause lag and in worst cases auto-restarts of realms.
Imagine it like you working in a coffee shop (or similar) alone and having to serve multiple people at the same time and even more demanding attention of you alongside the ones you are already serving. At some point you hit your breaking point.
Servers can have the same issue with data access and writing when the workload becomes too much. And cross-realm trading IS basically just much more workload in general for the servers.
Has it been fixed already?
I put a ticket in about this yesterday and the response I got from a GM was that it caused a rather big world bug when they enabled it. He also said it should be back on the weekly reset after maintenance if all goes smooth.
Hopefully, but at this point Iām worried it wonāt be, and itās incredibly important to sell items at giveaway risk at the end of the month, as in itās MUCH easier to get rid of such items if you can bring them to realms you KNOW are good at that stuff, and letās say if they fail at re-enabling it at the reset (and looks like they failed in the us, and reset came already) I donāt think another reset wait is unrealistic, and at that point thereās no more time left before the giveaway.
