Shuffle queue times in beta are actually much better than live ever was. Ping is 160 but WoW is not exactly that sensitive to latency as some other games.
I’m thinking an opt-in to to look for players from nearest regions could actually be nice.
Could be cool… Could also be an absolute nightmare. E.g. Imagine you’re the only EU player in a full US lobby and you go 0-6 because you couldn’t block in time. I know its opt in, but it would probably feel awful. I suppose it works both ways though, you could end up having the good latency. It would probably even out eventually. Would be good for quicker games in the early hours etc.
No, it’s not. It depends on where the instance server that hosts your game is located. From EU you will have approximately
Chicago based server → 160ms
LA based server → 220ms
Australia based server → 400+ ms
But the americans will have way less. They have certain rules in place that define where the instance will be hosted. Of course all of this is irrelevant since the databases between regions are completely separate.
In pretty sure you are confusing server latency with compensated/equalized latency. The game can not give some players advantage just because they have superior connection and proximity to the server. This is defailt in any real time pvp. All players in an instance always have same latency as the player with highest latency.
This is true in arena games. However, in games with more players, a player with very high latency is locked out to prevent ruining the game for others.
because, its hosted in EU, or US, test realms are all US, because we still can’t have an EU test realm after 20 years of wow
u r saying u okay with 160 pings, sure, im not… if i have to play with 160ms, then everyone needs to have 160ms, why would i face ppl with 20 ms, and maybe i have like, 200, this is not Halo 2 in 2006 where u hit headshots and guys keep runing at you because lag and servers just scw u lol.
That’s how it actually works. There isn’t such a thing as “equalized latency”. The game might employ some techniques for a big latency differential but at the end of the day if you are playing on any Oceanic realm you are essentially 400ms behind.
Try creating a US trial account and playing on Frostmourne
no? dont think there is any equalized latency in wow pvp.
The last cross region tournaments had EU and NA players play on the same server resulting in 200+ ms for one region and normal latency for other region.
