Cross server guilds?

We already have the possibility to raid and do dungeon with people from all over the place, I feel like it is about time to have the possibility to join guild cross realms.
I mean in a social game like this guilds are very important but sometimes depending on the server you don’t have a lot options.
Since Kazzak and Draenor for example are always suffering from overpop issues, that would be a win win for everybody. You should be able to play with who you want at the level you want, without being worried about it.

It won’t really help low-populated servers with their economy. The first thing I would do if cross-realm guilds were a possibility would be to transfer to a higher populated server, that actually had a functioning Auction House.

So I don’t see this happening untill Blizzard finally solve the population issues with too many full servers, and too many low populated and dead servers.

Everyone would just move to where the economy is healthiest, if cross-realm guilds would be an option. It would also mean trading in general would be a bit messed up. If people from a High Pop server have access to their auction house - meanwhile they can take and put things into the guild bank and share with players on other servers.

I think if this was to happen Auction House and the economy should be cross-relam as well. I would be perfectly happy if servers weren’t a thing.

But it can open up for so many issues, with duplicate named guilds not restricted to a server and even if guilds had a “surname” it’s easy to trick some into thinking you’re a guild (or a player) that you’re not.

That issue isn’t on the connected realms, as it’s a much smaller playerbase and almost none of them have identical named guilds.

I think all of this is a deeper and bigger issue. The issue of Blizzard not managing their population on EU, and leave it to die, so people’s only choice to be on live realms, is to go to the high populated ones…

And even so, 1 bad expansion can destroy realms, as they did to mine, which went from High to Low in just the span of a single expansion.

I think calling for more server connections at this point is the right thing to do; before considering a mega server. That would only really work once all the other issues are solved.

What they should do is just create megaservers.
Not more connections, not more new servers, just make BIG servers.

A lot of other MMOs did this, like GW2 started out with a ton of servers, and once the playerbase dwindled after a few years they removed a lot of serves and made 4-5 giant servers per region instead.

If they do this, Blizzard need to do a giant purge of dead-guilds and dead-characters with duplicate names. And lock the option for duplicate guild names.

Then people should just be more creative with their naming, instead of naming all guilds the same thing. I hope people know you can use more than a single word, for a guild name right?..

Look names issues are solvable, people have unique IDs. I just don’t think it is fair that your experience if heavily affected by which server you’re playing in.

whats wrong with single world guild names though? no offense but “Druids of the Beast” doesnt ooze creativity either and sounds rather cliché. :woman_shrugging:

people should be allowed to keep their names and just make it battletag-like with a hidden number or something.

Mmm in dunemaul i have a guild who have ppl from sylvanas server

Nothing wrong with them, having just 1 name. I made my guild when I came home drunk from a party as a teenager, so too late to change now. :joy: :joy: But that’s not the point.

I’d hope if everything went on a mega-server they would lock existing names and guild name for all guilds currently existing, so we don’t see 500 of the same guild name just for lols or because of copycats? - Like why enable people just picking names/guildnames already existing?

Of course people should be able to keep their current names and their character names and guild names. But the game could use a merge of guilds/low level characters that haven’t been on for 8+ years. (Maybe guilds only w/o guildbanks)
They already did a low-level purge years back, to open up more names for people.

Otherwise I can imagine it will get real messy, if everyone can pick any name they want, without names getting locked. If not, I’d really rather not want mega servers, if people can just duplicate names, with their surname server behind it.

There would be too much exploitation if people can just freely make guilds/characters with identical names, imo. And how API sites like Wowprogress or IO raider would keep the difference I’m not sure.

There are more words/combinations of letter than characters in WoW, so I highly doubt it would be as much of an issue, as duplicate/identical names. Why anyone would even ask for that? I don’t know.

Because dunemaul and sylvanas are connected. It is really hard for me to grasp the difference between connected and cross play from a progrtamming perspective. I believe that technically every realm could be connected.

I’m amazed that they haven’t connected every realm and have a single region-wide auction house. I guess there is still too much money to be made from server transfers. Or something.

The thing is a transfer (assuming you only have one) costs almost more than half of the basic shadowlands price which is insane.
I do feel that regardless of the name it would be easier performance wise to spread people equally and allow them to play. I mean at the of the day, you can raid, do dungeon etc. What is really missing is trade and guild.

I support this idea, and i support cross faction guilds too.

I wish they’d remove the requirement for mythic to be restricted to server-only at the start of each tier. There are plenty of PUGs & communities out there who are done with HC Nathria, and would like to try their hand at mythic raiding.

I don’t understand why they just want to slow down low pop realms. Sure they make money off of transfers but it is also true that Draenor and Kazzak are extremely overcrowded, oftentimes face performance issues.

I think for that happen we need a proper ah overall with limit orders otherwise it would just be an undercut benanza and selling would be very difficult

I don’t know if we need cross server guilds…Since we have communities, which are a similar thing…if for example you add cross server trade and a vault , you have you exactly cross server guild.
The only thing is if you just want it for mythic raiding.

It’s not.
You can’t enchant each other. You can’t trade each other. You can’t make use of the guildbank, you can’t do guild achievements together, you can’t assist each other in professions, assisting in getting legendariers. You can’t do Mythic Raiding, you can’t trade gems, etc

Also your “guild” wouldn’t show up on Wowprogress or Raider io. - because it wouldn’t be a guild.

The list goes on.

Bit like Immortalis?

You didn’t read…
I said trade ( whatever it includes) and mythic raiding… Both can create damage if you are in a low pop realm where you can’t find what you want…and basically will lead you to transfer.
RIO WoWprogress warcraftlogs or whatever…are not the damage…that you can’t do things because you need to pay for transfer is.

Yeah I agree and I think the fastests and safest way, before mega servers or cross-realm guilds. Would probably for Blizz to do more server connections.
