Hey guys , i was wondering if anyone uses multi gpu setup such as Crossfire and tell me if its working on DX11 or something like that.Cuz i was thinking buying a 2nd amd card for the purpouse.Thank you!
It’s pointless to get a second GPU for WoW unless you’re playing at stupid high resolutions, WoW’s performance is limited by your CPU provided you have a somewhat up to date GPU and not something ancient.
i know that wow is CPU depending but still if crossfire works i can save a lot of money and buy a 2nd gpu and boost peformance , cuz still GPU is important maybe not as much as the CPU.I just want someone whos using Crossfire to share expirience and if it works better than a single GPU ( it should work better if it actually works).
Performance increase from getting a 2nd GPU for WoW is not worth how much it costs.
Okay does Crossfire works actually ? and it has boost. It doesnt matter for me if its minor cuz its way better in my case than buying a way more expensive GPU.
It works but you’ll barely notice it because… WoW is cpu bound.
I should use DX11 right ? It doesnt work on DX12 i guess ?
Don’t do it, you won’t get double fps as you might think 2 GPU’s = double the power right? No sadly it does not work that way. Also even if it did, most games/programs can only support 1 GPU at a time. Pretty sure having dual-GPU’s is only useful if you’re editing graphically heavy stuff/animating, and it definitely wont be worth it for gaming. Also it’s important that people know that a PC’s CPU can have just as much impact on the power as the GPU. Sadly i see far too many people wasting their money on graphic cards etc, meanwhile they get bottlenecked by their processors and have to spend even more money to get the performance from the GPU.
In my case CPU is good and I don’t wanna change it, that’s why I think in my case 2nd gpu is good also I play OW and some other fps or mmo games sometimes. My cpu is 9600k it doesn’t worth to change it for the games I play still. And I know I won’t get the double fps, I read a lot, for me 50% boost is enough or even 40% to spend the money
I’d not be spending money on an obsolete technology myself. Both Crossfire and DirectX 11 have now been replaced with newer versions. DirectX 12 was released 7 years ago, so I’d be surprised if anyone is still optimising their games for Crossfire / DirectX 11.
The question you should be asking… does WoW currently max out your GPU? If the case is no then why would you buy a better/second GPU.
Given that you asks that question here, I assume you are not a high-end power user, and thus you will not benefit from double GPUs. For most use cases a better performing GPU is far better and more stable than two lesser ones in Crossfire.
And since you asked, Crossfire should work fine with DX11 unless you have bad drivers.
