Ctrl Key To Cast On Focus Target Not Working?

I was healing a random dungeon the other day; at the start, I did what I always do and set the tank as my focus target. When the time came to heal said tank, I held down the Ctrl key and cast my heal, only for it to be cast on me instead.

I thought that maybe my finger slipped off the button, so I tried again, only to get the same thing happening. After getting kicked out of the group for ‘not healing the tank’ (even though I told them what was happening), I had a look through the key bindings to see if something had happened there. Only thing is, I couldn’t see any key for casting on a focus target. Holding down Alt while targeting someone still casts the spell on me, but it would appear as though the ability to cast on a focus target using Ctrl has been removed.

Or has it? Surely I’m missing something? I tried Googling a solution, but all I could find were macros, and no explanation as to why holding down the Ctrl key no longer works. This is something that I’ve always done; I’ve never had to use a macro to do it in all the years I’ve been playing. (Heck, I don’t even use macros for anything at all.)

So, can someone please explain it to me? Failing that, you can tell me why I’m an idiot who is too dumb to see something that’s right in front of his face.

I’m not aware of anything having been changed regarding this, but it is a configurable option.

Unlikely you’d expect, it’s not under keybindings, instead you’ll find it at:
ESC > Interface > Game tab (on top) > Combat (sidebar)

There you can set a FOCUS modifier-key and/or a SELF CAST modifier-key, either of them can be CTRL or ALT or SHIFT. I guess your settings there don’t reflect what you expected, or what you’d want them to be.
