Curseforge gone, where to get and update addons?

I’m a bit out of information regarding the discontinuation of Curseforge, anyone could point me on some direction on where i can get and update addons now?

CurseForge is moving to Overwolf. You can use that if you want but many don’t like it being on thier system because of bloat or whatever. Personally I don’t care because I don’t let it start on system startup and only open it to update mods and then close it. Let’s be honest, having to use the entire Twitch app was it’s own form of bloat.

Ajour and WowUp are some third party addon managers if you don’t want to use Overwolf. They still link to the CurseForge library and update everything in the same way as Twitch did. But… apparently, CurseForge is trying to find ways to stop those from working.

If you choose to use Overwolf, make sure you don’t accept all ‘Purposes’ during the installation. Choose ‘Manage’ and turn all the crap data collection off by choosing ‘Reject All Purposes’. Also turn off some data collection options in Overwolf’s Privacy settings after installation.

Using CurseForge on Overwolf is almost indentical to using it on Twitch and it performs quite a bit better; faster.

If you’d like to try the new Curseforge app you can find it here

If you want to use an alternative, you can find a list here

I personally use the Overwolf incarnation myself. I find it runs better than Twitch. Do go through the settings like you would with any new app, don’t let it share your data, I personally don’t like any app to start on startup, I don’t let them run in the background and I hate overlays

I have friends that use both WowUp and Ajour. They seem to like those.

Yes to be fair, I was very very wary of Overwolf after a bad experience some time back, but if you do as Puny says, namely

then I have found it to be ok, but do go thru the options and make sure it doesn’t load on boot up, and doesn’t run in the background.

Thank you three for the answers and explanations, very useful!

I’m always careful in download setups, going to be even more because this new pc is very clean and pristine and i don’t want any bloatware on it.
