Customer Support depresses me

It’s the day before Christmas and every time I need to contact a GM, which is incredibly rarely, it just makes me more and more sad after each interaction.

I remember the days when they would actually message you in-game, appear before you, actually feel like they play and KNOW the game, and know exactly what you’re talking about when you have an issue or problem.

Now-a-days, it’s mostly just an automated thing that tries desperately for you to click on a link that won’t solve your issue, and if you manage to open a ticket, within 2 - 3 DAYS you then just get a mostly-similar-looking copy and paste “We can’t help you”, “No we won’t do that” or “Right-click report thank you ” without actually reading the ticket on what was asked.

Every instance of needing help over the past 3 years is just met with “Can’t, thanks ”. I even almost didn’t even bother doing my latest ticket and a friend edged me to say I might as well, so I did.

2 days later “Here is a link to why we won’t do that goodbye ”. Was about two lines long, with two PARAGRAPHS of terrible ‘introduction RP’ about themselves at the top and bottom.

It’s just so sad - like, what is even their purpose anymore? What’s the point? What do they ACTUALLY help with… ?

Looking through my old tickets of the past 3 years, NONE of them helped me with any of the requests. Not a SINGLE one… (various situations or questions, not all the same thing of course).

It’s just sad, man. What happened?

Seen a lot of comments like this.

Most of us seem to get a response that has just scanned for keywords and then links a load of wowhead stuff which often isn’t even related.

Then you have to escalate the ticket.

The golden standard of customers support days seem to be behind us sadly.

Only used the feature once in Dragonflight when there was an issue with buying weapons with Bloody coins (if you bought two one hand weapons, you would only get one for the price of two). My first reply was some copy paste chatbot with links, so I opened a new one and got a human who refunded the item.

These annoying customer support chatbots isn’t something just Blizzard uses, in my country phone operator or insurance companies use them as well. Saves money for the company but annoying as hell for the customer.

This, if there’s an issue they can help with and is described as to contact Support then you first have to defeat the initial line nowadays, anywhere, anytime’s Support.

Other day I was asking for a refund for a defunct check-out pole for transit (if I can’t check out - I’m not liable after all!) and had to be put in wait after selecting the correct options for a very long time. Because everything else was in order (This is my usual check out, from the usual check in too) I got processed fairly quick after I got to an agent.

Its sad.

I tried to report a crazy toxic situation that back in the days for SURE would be investigated; but it was crazy hard to report.

I could do a automatic report, snd got like 25 chars to explain the situation.
And I had to go trough so many tabs to find put where I could report.

I gave up lol, and that dude still roams around being a potato in-game making people feel bad.

Tbh. Its not even WoW. How people act these days with their “muh customer rights!” and if you dare to say No to some of them unreasonable demands, they will scream at you like you killed their unborn child.
Customer service specialist is pretty much the moden day “gong farmer” job.

Your on argent dawn lol, so you admit mass reporting which ive said happens
And people on AD should feel bad theres alot of perverts and nonces on AD so i hope they do feel bad

When I returned to WoW after many years off, I contacted customer support to ask which realms all my characters were on across two accounts, as I didn’t want to click into each realm to see if anything was there.

They helped with that, gave me a list of all my characters across two accounts and which realms they were on. So I guess it comes down to what you contact them about.

“Incredibly rare” and “looking through my tickets for the past 3 years” does not compute.

Yes their CS sucks but I’ve had zero interactions with them for years, if you’re looking through a list then maybe you’re making too many.

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can’t be as helpful as they’d like to be but they also get inundated with crap requests from overly needy people. (I’m not saying yours were).

That really brings back memory. [A GM wants to chat with you]

Nowadays bots are replying useless things and closing complaint. I don’t understand if you have bots why you let us wait 3 days.

Because it’s not a bot, or you would have instant answers as you’ve remarked. It’s just that a GM sees your issue and the first response is always to assign the closest template to the issue which is an industry standard for customer support nowadays.

back in legion, or bfa i forgot which. i had to call a GM cause something bad was going on in-game which affected someone’s safety. the GM was nice ^,…^ good times

I’m curious, what did you ask the GM?

Do you get out of bed unaided? And that’s why we get canned responses rather than human.

And then they have the audacity to ask to fill out a survey after their useless “CS”.

It ain’t a GM, they’re outsourced people (probably from India) that just skim over the title of the ticket and copy/paste an “answer” to that title, often having zero relevance to the ticket. They don’t bother reading the body of the ticket.

These people have literally zero access to your account or any GM tools, they’ll just direct you to the online services… they just want to get through tickets ASAP.

If it were AI there wouldn’t be wait times to their useless responses.

But that’s your chance to tell them exactly what you think of the service you’ve received.

The only time those annoy me is if I get one after self service. Like they did nothing. I did it all and then thes system automated the rest.

Oh I do tell them in a virtual manner akin to leaving a bagged turd at their door step to what I think of their “service”.

My experience with them has been good overall, I do admit that they reply really slow.

I lost an account because I did not have access to that email anymore and I had to write a ticket. Took around 3 days I think but the problem was resolved in 24 hours and the GM was really polite and helpful.

They are understaffed for sure.

That is very sad to assume customer is to stupid to not check wowhead.
