Damage numbers

The War Within is shaping up to be as good if not better than Legion. That’s of course in my opinion.
An awful thing these two great expansions have in common though are the damage numbers. I no longer understand what’s on screen and to me it’s unplayable without the Nameplate Scrolling Combat Text addon, which still doesn’t do it for me, it just makes it readable.
It’s time Blizzard let’s us customize what we see on screen. For my preferences, I would translate the current ones into K and keep the maximum hits at the lower numbers in the 5 digit range.
Having discussed this with fellow players, we agreed that the way we perceive the reactiveness and clarity of the game is in the damage numbers and despite the classes feeling really good at the moment, the visual feedback doesn’t reflect it.
I’m curious what other people think about the current damage numbers, as these will likely go way crazier than Legion’s final patch very soon, and if we should push for the option to customize them i.e. removing as many zero’s as we prefer.

I like the idea of being able to truncate the numbers into K, honestly, and would like to see that added.

Personally, I’ve turned off damage numbers and have been playing like that since Dragonflight. The only numbers I see are healing. I’d probably turn it on again if something like this gets added.

I personally use an addon called NameplateSTC, it has tons of options. I made the normal hits quite small and the crit a bit bigger so its not that distracting like the defualt dmg numbers are.

This addons shows the DMG with a K, 100000 = 100k for ex.

Thanks for linking to what I’ve already mentioned in the post.

That’s sad, because it plays a part in how the game feels. The Nameplate Scrolling Combat Text addon I mention in the post does it but it has its problems, like execute spells get clipped because the numbers are attached to the mob.

Yes, I use it too like I’ve mentioned here. It’s a must-have this expansion in my opinion, but still doesn’t give the same feel as the OG numbers. I don’t see why they shouldn’t implement an option to customize this, as some players (although I suspect very few) want crazier numbers and others like the classic feel.

I suppose we have to petition for it. If we just post about it once in a blue moon on the forums, they won’t spend resources on implementing this. If we get more people on board then we have more chances of seeing it down the road.

That was for Brotatoe, not you. I might have missclicked the wrong reply button.
