Damage reduction - how does it work

I am not sure how damage reduction works to be honest. I give you a few scenarios, in all of them the Mob uses an attack that does 100 damage then applies a bleed of 100 damage over 10 seconds.

  1. I use Pulverize before getting hit and the mob deals 35% less damage to me. Do I take 65 and 65 over 10 seconds?
  2. I use Pulverize after getting hit, not before. The mob clearly deals 100, but does the bleed get reduced?
  3. I use Barkskin and it has 5 seconds left at the moment of attack. I should take 80 dmg and then what happens? Do I take 5 seconds of reduced bleed then full bleed?
  4. I use Barkskin after the attack, does the bleed get reduced?

Honestly… I feel like an idiot for asking these after tanking +15s and crap, but it really started to bug me and maybe it helps me improve.

I think all these should work as you described. If you know when and how damage will happen, you’ll be able to line up defensives for it.

Barkskin as I know, an universal dmg dampening CD, and as for Pulverize… it only affects the enemy you use it on, so it’s wiser to target a more dangerous enemy with it.

Don’t worry, we all begin somewhere :slightly_smiling_face: it’s only natural you want to know more before you try it for real.

Yes (if Pulverize lasts that long).

Yes.

Yes.
