Danuser: Let There Be Dreadlords

SPOILER ALERT

So apparently in the Lords of Dread raid boss fight a bunch of old bosses (mainly from Classic) turn out to have been Mal’Ganis and Kintessa… for… reasons.
It’s funny because there is this Antorus boss, Imonar the Soulbinder, who was apparently either Mal’Ganis or his sister.
Wait up- Why would dreadlords who are already pretending to serve Sargeras disguise as another being of the Burning Legion? -Don’t know!
Why the heck would they disguise as Wise Mari? How would that possibly benefit them? -Don’t know!
What’s up with disguising as the Knight-Captain in a Kul’Tiran prison? -Don’t know!

That…makes absolutely zero sense.

Was Mal Ganis pretending to be Onyxia pretending to be Royal advisor to the King of Stormwind Lady Prestor?

It’s kind of tragic that the ol’good ‘Jaina is a dreadlord’ fanfic can’t be a joke anymore because it is more than possible with how the lore has turned out.

Maybe we the players were dreadlords all along. Would explain why we always seem to find ourselves at the most important events.

I like that people are going against this and actively trying to vocal towards current wow writing team cause what they are doing right now is literally killing the vibe and lore of this game
At least from me

Nope. The dreadlords merely take the form of those old bosses, it is never implied that those bosses were actually dreadlords. The designer who made the fight confirmed so, too. Source: https://twitter.com/kenandstuff/status/1502480453453844486.

If you look at the buff mentioned in the tweet:

It clearly says mimicking, disguise, and attempting to fool. There are similar spells for other old bosses and creatures and stuff. Pretty clear it’s the Lords of Dread playing games, rather than writers implying those old bosses were dreadlords all along.

They were about as much those old bosses as you are when you use a transmorpher beacon. Mal’ganis even takes OUR form during the Zereth Mortis questline. Were we dreadlords too, from the beginning?

Damn, they really went out their way to make the story as stupid as possible by giving quite literally all the credit to the Jailer and dreadlords for everything that ever happened. At least they could’ve made the meme come true and put Jaina on that list. Without that, this is not even funny, just sad.

They did not. Good job falling for clickbait.

How would they know those people then? Genius.
How would the possibly know all those random guys to take their appearence? It is more than obvious what is implied.

Just because they turn into them doesn’t mean they were those all along. Even the fight designer has come out and said it was more to showcase their ability to change in anyone.

Yeah they showcase their ability to transform to anyone by transforming to people they could not possibly know of? Anyways, is there a source to what you claim?

I’m just not sure what the point of this was. We knew that dreadlords can take on any guise pretty much since Vanilla, so what was the point of this?

This was about as exciting a reveal as having floating rocks and trees and being able to walk on water in Zereth Mortis was.

Not a good job reading more than 7 words of my comment. Idc if they were bosses when we fought those people or not, i never claimed they were, it’s already bad enough that they were going around stirring some crap under the Jailer’s order. Which obviously wasn’t a part of the planned story until Danuser put down the pen and started writing with an axe.

I mean as awful as shadowlands lore is, this isnt part of it.

they werent those npcs, those npcs were themselves.

the whole “transformation” is just a show off that shows that dreadlords can disguise as whoever they wish, that’s it really lmao.

They probably just did it for this encounter, to mess with the player. I do not believe they actually were any of these people when we first encountered them.
