I know that designers don’t plan to change talents. But I would like to see at least a rune which makes this talent more useful especially in Pvp. Mana is always useful but a character which has life tap, effectiveness of this talent is really low. Especially while we can use life tap more effective thanks to master channeller rune.
Hunter has beastial wrath, boomkin has form, shadow has form, warrior has oneshotstrike, frost mage ice barrier etc etc. You already know these. I think this could be worst last skill among Popular talent trees.
What I believe while they are bringing new spells with runes, they also need to consider updating spells especially the ones at this quality.
I really like affliction but knowing that last talent of the tree is dark pact, make me so annoyed. It is not about power too, it is something super boring. I would like to see a rune which changes it or adds new abilities to this talent.
These are my ideas about dark pact, what do you think about this? Maybe I am missing a point here. I would like to hear yours.
They wont change anything related to the classic spells or talents unless it is modified by a rune. At least for now, and I think it will remain the same untill the end of SoD. Apparently if they change the original spells/talents it will break the classic era realms, or at least that’s what I heard.
I mean according to your logic, currently hunters are so powerful and they will be more with Beastial Wrath so they dont deserve useful rune.
Blizzard should add rp runes for them.

Dark Pact being the capstone talent for affliction made sense in vanilla, when mana was a resource you had to pay attention to, and besides mana potions you couldn’t get easily otherwise.
Now with runes there are so many very powerful healing spells that cost barely any mana that a warlock life tapping barely puts any pressure on healers so having Dark Pact as the capstone talent for affliction feels like having a head on a hat.
It is almost certain the devs won’t touch the talent but if they really wanted to make things right they would entirely replace Dark Pact with something like a passive that allowed dots to crit and to gain 1 SP for every int point so that Warlocks that went this deep in Affliction would get their dot scaling issues tackled.
If destro got 65% flat bonkers fire damage I don’t think the numbers above are even as crazy.
And anyway Dark Pact feels out of place in Affliction, it would make more sense to have it in Demonology instead of improved firestone/enslave demon/spellstone.
It’s unlikely for any such things to ever happen but such changes would be about right I think.
imagine playing a class that is perfectly fine, and complaining about individual talents that arent optimal, while other specs are so bad that they arent even worth playing.
-Specs- yes. But do you see many affliction warlocks running around? I am probably the only one i saw in BFD after too many resets.
But i agree, warlock has one good spec Firedestro. So we should not whine about other aspecs of the class…
Status as of now:
- Firedestro: good but not great (best caster but can’t touch S classes)
- Shadow destro: terrible
- Affli: pretty bad
- Tank: average
OT: i agree Dark Pact will be useless. But i lookforward to play Shadowlock (tank/dps) at 40 with 4 dots and massive regen. Much better flow than destro imo.

The problem is this topic is not about warlock or affliction. It is about Dark pact. I believe especially after runes it is like joke. Lvl2 spell better than ability which you spend 40 talent points. Also higher stats make it more useless.
with shamanistic rage rune, its more than obsolete.
People will say but agfli is strong. Yes it could be but it is like saying warriors are already strong they shouldnt release p2 runes for them.
they shouldn’t release runes for warriors, and they should nerf the runes they already have. or make runes for warriors that are only cosmetic
