Hi,
Just want to know if there are others who share my opinion.
I’m disappointed to see that Sentinel is given to Survival rather than Beast Mastery. While Dark Ranger can fit both, I think it’s much more appropriate for Survival rather than BM. Dark Rangers of the WC universe aren’t really connected to animals, although they have been shown with scary looking companions (arachnophobes hate this one trick).
On a personal note, as a Nelf BM hunter, I’m sad to not have the option of Sentinel. As of now, since I don’t want my character to have a dark theme, I’m stuck to only Pack Leader.
These are my arguments/explanations why it should switch:
- Marksmanship: Sentinel and Dark Ranger, reflecting its versatility in ranged combat and adaptability to both a guardian role and a more sinister, shadowy role.
- Beast Mastery: Sentinel and Pack Leader, emphasizing its connection with animals in both a protective role and as a leader of the pack.
- Survival: Pack Leader and Dark Ranger, showcasing its adaptability and resilience in the wild, whether through direct animal companionship or through shadow and stealth. The Dark Ranger shots/arrows can easily be incorporated into Survival’s hand crossbow that they currently use for Serpent Sting.
So yeah, feel free to agree/disagree! I am obviously motivated by personal wishes for my own character, so I understand if this isn’t a big deal to others.
Edit: Adding more arguments as we go along, from myself and others, for an easier read:
- Summoning animals has never been shown as a Dark Ranger thing in-game.
- There are melee Dark Rangers in-game, the ones in Hillsbrad Foothills.
- Sylvanas, the Dark Ranger, was traditionally shown with two swords, lest we not forget her epic power slide against Arthas (Warbringers) and the fact that she engaged Saurfang in melee (Reckoning). Like surely if she had 2 specs, she would be Marksmanship/Survival, not Marksmanship/Beast Mastery…
