Dark Ranger Race or Class? A Possibility?

There are 2 offshoots of Night elves - the Shen’dralar, a.k.a the Highborne, which are part of the Kaldorei since Cata (Nelf mages) and the Suramarian Nightborne, which joined the Horde… because an elf was “mean” to their leader.
So that boat had sailed, which means in order to balance Dark Rangers/San’layn for the Horde, the Alliance needs High elves.

If we look at Alleria’s quest chain, we were most likely to get Void Krokuun than Void elves.

Void elf is nice and all but I feel like it should hve been unique only to Alleria and Alliance finally get their High elves cause they do infact exist and are representing the Alliance in the Argent Tournament , alao in Suramar Elisande addressed them seperatley from their Blood Elf counterpart.

Further reason to believe San’layn can be coming is in the Void Elf /silly because Nightborne made a joke about their Night Elf counterpart calling them country elves and Void elf calling San’layn emo elf

That was a quite interesting read, and could potentially lead to something.

If I’m guessing

Either A green fire like quest for hunters to make them dark ranger themed

Or Velonara defects, trains dark rangers for the alliance ( they have no problem with warlocks, void users and death knight keep that in mind )

No more elf-locked classes.

i have this my own personal theory that light/dark rangers will be one of the main sell points of 9,0 which will be light vs void expansion

but that me and my tinfoil hats

Dark rangers don’t have to be elf locked.

Dark rangers don’t have to be elf locked.

That’s true. What makes the current Dark Rangers unique is that they are all elves, minus Nathanos.

Soo Dark Rangers do not have to be all elves. Sure that is one thing people actually want, including me. A risen undead Elf, aka a “proper” Dark Ranger. But I’d be open to other races. As long as it actually worked and wasn’t implemented in some weird lore breaking way.

Hmm good point. I suppose that doing anything similar would just be repeating what has already been done. Which would most likely not be liked.

I also got my theories for the next expansion. Such as it being heavily Old God focused, which I’ve believed since Legion. There is just to much hinting at that, and even more now in BfA. Which would also mean more Void which yes could open up a way for more Dark Rangers or more Void stuff.

Might as well be either a Hunter or Rogue spec.

Maybe remake sub to be a bit of a hybrid ranged/melee spec.

Wouldn’t hurt to have more classes that uses ranged weapons.

Hunters are just the general class name. Under those fall, beastmasters, survival hunters (trappers) and marksman.

Rangers would fall heavily under the marksman

While true they don’t have anything to do with the ebon blade . That could change in the future, with maybe dark rangers defecting in the future. There is this datamined quest about a dark ranger that was risen and forced to follow sylvanas. If sylvanas grip was to fade over them they might leave the forsaken and join the ebon blade.

But combat wise dark rangers are shown to have magic to raise skellies and other undead like skills in wc 3 and if you look at the stuff sylvanas does. Dark rangers would fit better as a death knight 4th specc than a class on their own imo.

Nathanos and his undead hounds say hi, back in the days he was chilling in the plaguelands and was a questmob to kill for the alliance

As for the risen by Sylvannas part I think there is a little bit of confusion that needs to be cleared up from Blizz part, Was the raising and forcing into servitude done while she was under Arthas’s grip, or when she broke free?

Are the banshees and dark rangers still under Sylvanas grip or did she give them free will?

Back when everybody loved him and he was really scary! Quest text :-

Do you know how many ranger lords exist in this world? How many human ranger lords have ever existed?

Nathanos’ accomplishments were unprecedented. He was a tactical genius, responsible for Alliance victories spanning a decade of conflict.

And now… the champion of the Forsaken.

No. This cannot be. Order must be restored.

Gather an army, <name>. Return to the Plagues with your army and destroy the Blightcaller.

I wish you luck, <name>. Truly, you will need it for this battle.

He’s not a Dark Ranger though.
Back then he was a regular Forsaken. During Legion he got some visual upgrades, but he’s still just a Forsaken.

He was the only ranger that trained among the elves it was looked down on , but Sylvanas vouched for him the text below is from wowpedia

Nathanos Marris was the first and only human ranger lord, the highest rank in the Farstriders’ hierarchy below ranger-general, appointed as such by Ranger-General [Sylvanas Windrunner]

i think you are mistaking expansions -_-

we are playing old god expansion atm

so next one has to have new theme

and only logical choice would be light vs void

If this is the old god expansion it is very lacking in well, old gods. We have mainly seen their minions. Yes alright G’Huun is an old god. But he was created like a lab rat, not part of the original group. Which is C’Thun, Yogg-Saron, N’zoth and Y’Shaarj. This right now is kinda classic and typical Horde vs Alliance.

Not sure the coming raid counts, where we fight like inside or next to a part of N’Zoth.
