Hey everyone,
I have recently created a dark-skinned human monk. I really adore her and would like to introduce her in a RP environment, but I am struggling to find lore re: humans with dark skin.
Where would she be born, for example? What areas would allow for dark skin humans? I don’t like to assume and pick random desert area, or tropical area…
Anyone with knowledge of this kind of lore, please? I want to get to know my gorgeous girl better
Doesn’t matter. Skin colour is not tied to any one region in Warcraft. There are black nobles of Stromgarde or some other northern kingdom iirc

Anywhere and all of them.
Human (and elf) skin color in WoW isn’t really bound to any region, nation, location, culture, etcetera.

Skin colour of humans is a relatively unimportant factor in the world of Azeroth. A human can be of any ethnicity and thus come from any city. A Stranglethorn human wouldn’t necessarily be born a darker skin colour than one from Lordaeron, Gilneas, Kul Tiras, Redridge, etc etc. Obviously environmental factors play a role in regards to a character having a tan or a pale complexion, but race-related geography isn’t really a thing in WoW. Everyone’s just kind of clumped together.

OP: Hmm okay. Despite that making no sense, I will run with what you lot have told me and simply pick what environment I feel suitable. Thanks for the replies!

Skin colour is not tied to anywhere in WoW. You get the shade of baby you get, unless humies are working differently than other races in WoW like that.

I mean this is a universe where an earth elemental princess had sex with a dryad demigod and gave birth to the first centaur.
It’s not too far-fetched to think that human phenotypes are not subject to the same conditions as in real life.

Technically all humans are flesh-cursed corruptions of titanic perfection. The only acceptable ‘skin’ is STONE, which far surpasses the inferiority of skin and bone and muscle

Human Skin color is not tied to any area on Azeroth. Just like if you picked a blue-grey night elf or pink night elf, they could all be from Ashenvale. It’s just cosmetic. It wouldn’t matter. I get where the question comes from, considering red Draenei and stuff… but that’s a completely different topic which is related to demonic power.
As for lore, I recall that King Varian’s mother is depicted as Dark skinned in the live action movie and some of the comics. So they are literally located everywhere in the human kingdoms. I’ve seen many in Kul Tiras as well
The only place that lacks diversity visually, is the Uldum/Tanaris humans who all seem to have tan/ brown skin.

I will say too that while the best circumstances is people just accepting this by default and make whatever human look they want from anywhere, it was at least good for OP to ask(and also accept) the replies instead of doing what I have seen some other people did with dark-skinned characters and make them walking stereotypes or worse. (Looking at the Uldum scene).

Only in the movie which isn’t considered canon. We’ve no canon depiction of Taria Wrynn.

I’m aware. But it’s the only example I can think of
A better named character example would be Makasa Flintwell from Traveler! She’s a black human of Stromic descent, and we explore Stromic customs and culture through Makasa’s POV making her the most current source of Stromic national culture!
The book series also introduced us to Duan Phen, a Vietnamese-coded human side character who hails from Stormwind.

Interesting! I never heard of her. She seems really cool! I need to read up more about her.
Uldum itself is a walking stereotype. But I won’t go into that, just like I won’t mention the mess that is Aladdin. I’m middle eastern by the way.

Trust in Telaryn, the sentient lore library

There was also a dark skinned elf way back in the Cata era iirc (High Elf I think?), granted it’s from a book but it does still show that it’s been a thing for a LONG time.

It’s a game and part of the fun is being creative with Your character.
I created a dark skinned human priest with pink hair and I love her
now if only we have proper makeup
Might be the sims player in me.

I know WoW is very basic, but the fact that its tied directly to the face structure/model is so disappointing and have been for years

Pretty much this! And also the fact the only good lipstick (the red one) is tied to a red eyeshadow that makes me look like a clown
