Darker Elf Skins Diversity Box-Tick ✅

It always makes me smile when I see this - anything that isn’t uber progressive is far-right. Yes. Of course.

Maybe Blizzard want to score some woke points, but so what? Inclusivity on its own doesn’t equal a political statement and seeing they’re adding a bunch of new customizations, skin colours - yadda yadda, this is way too little to be seen as anything political.

I get that you may be tired of poorly written media that tries desperately to pander to “woke” audiences, but going around calling ‘inclusivity’ bad and political makes you look really daft and overly sensitive.

tbh I’m just bored at work so I post on here lol

One thing still stands though - true blood elf is white. Don’t like it Azanteya? Well, if I were you I’d rather go and regrow your little tree :joy:

And true hordies are not elves. Your race was added to the faction for inclusivitys sake.

Source for “true blood elf is white”.

As in, actual source, not “I’ve always imagined they are so they are”.

Pathetic. Nuff said.

Would have been cool if they had made a story with their additions/changes.
Like “They are from Tanaris” (Or anywhere!), just a short little snippet of story.
Anything to add is welcome imo.
Same with changes of NPCs - they should have replaced the old ones with new ones, not replaced their looks, that is very weird.
I rather have Kiara take over a shop cause she bought it/inherited/whatever to take it over - than have Clara change skincolor over night.

I love the addition of these skincolors and other things so I wish it would be handled with some cool story added to it, it would enrich the universe even more.

Exactly my point. The reason I said they “look out of place” is because it looks like they’re doing black-face with make-up/body paint – they don’t have the features to go with darker skin like Humans do with the new facial features and hairstyles that represent black and Asian people.

I guess the only unofficial explanation is that they used magic to look darker. BOOM! lore solved. :joy:

Elves can be any colour 'cause they’re magic pixie people that do not adhere to IRL human ethnicities.

You keep using that term, so I’ll make this reply to you one time only.

You’ve done a lot of name-calling and gas-lighting on my topic and your posts come across as quite passive aggressive. You know, this might shock you but if people don’t have the same/similar views and opinions as you, it doesn’t automatically make them “far-right” … unless your perception & world view really is -that- small, of course.

With that logic then Blizzard can make Blood Elves green with no explanation because screw lore, right? Hmm. Come to think of it, no it actually doesn’t need to be explained, especially judging by the same people replying in this topic.

Who needs lore reasons on World of Warcraft in the year 2021 anymore, just tick as many boxes as you can and implement as many borrowed-power systems and other financially-motivated predatory features to boost numbers for quarterly earnings while preaching about how diverse and progress your corporation is and then call it a day.

Still waiting for green elves.

High/Blood elves developed into human skintones when they left Kalimdor. Humans can be brown. Elves can be brown. There’s your lore.

Not sure if they ever explained specifically why humans can look African or Asian either.

you’re actually wrong about this, get out more and look at people more, facial features and hair style differences are not what you seem to think, perhaps you have been told through the media about these things but in the real world people are very similar to each other and share facial features and body types the world over, it’s because they are human and human beings have the capacity to vary in the same ways. spend more time watching people.

Says the one calling the implementation of dark skin options for Blood Elves politically / ideologically motivated because he is unable to adapt to changes he doesn’t support… The irony…

People supporting your view in this thread have been utilising dark skin colour out of ideological reasons in the first place, name-calling everyone having another opinion without even knowing them and spitting out some of the most racist theories about elf aesthetics I’ve ever heard. Stop acting like you’d be a victim of false accusations. You aren’t.

A world view can’t be “small”. It can only be limited. And as someone who supports diversity and actually tolerates different opinions, cultures and preferences enough to not dictate to people which skin colours would be legit for the chars they play, I doubt it is - me - who should check for limitation in her world view. I don’t really care if you even can grasp what I’m saying. I guess not. But same to you as to your “white Blood Elves only” boyfriend:

Your constant and repetitive complaints about dark skin options for Sin’Dorei are a joke since we proved you wrong on every premise with FACTS, not opinions. You complain about something that allegedly “can’t be” while it is reality already. There is no alternative reality to the current optimisation options my friend. Blizzard told you that your idea about Blood Elves doesn’t match theirs. So, either you unsub or just get a grip and deal with it unless you’re creating your own game, where you realise your dream of a pureblood white elf race without melanin and free of all the natural mechanics skin and pigment cells actually work with.

The big majority of writers in this thread already called you guys out for your misconceptions. You still keep rambling on about your white elf stereotypes and racist ideologies about mythology which most of the time are based on a lack of knowledge. “Small world view”, aha.

To be fair, he does have a bit of a point. The reason this whole debaucle came in place isn’t because there are new skin tones, IMHO, but rather the fact that this hasn’t been done properly. If blizzard came out and said: “We feel like our world could use a bit of a makeover for the sake of player freedom when it comes to customisation of their characters as well as for proper representation of our player base, ergo we are adding some new details to the lore and adding new player customisation features to represent these new changes in adherence to our established world.” - this wouldn’t be much of a problem! Like I said earlier, Blizzard just did the bare minimum and botched the execution of an otherwise OK idea.

Unfortunately, a lot of black/asian/hispanic people are doing the same thing nowdays by also being racist to white people. Saying that as white-looking Armenian (North-West Asian).
Other than that, I agree with you more than with him.

In the case of the Wildhammer Dwarves and “High” elves returning to the Alliance in some shape or form, I would love to see the Forrest trolls appearing in the Horde even in the form of the Revantusk customizations.

This would really bring back Warcraft 2 vibes which is my favorite of the 3 Warcrafts

As an Armenian who travels a lot, dude, I can tell you that you aren’t exactly right here. True, a lot of people DO look similar, but holy moly do we also look way more different than I thought. When I studied in Peoples’ Freindship University in Russia, I pretty much thought I wouldn’t be able to tell where anyone is from at the start. A week later I could tell you where majority of students were from without even having to ask them just because they looked so distinct to their respective people, no matter how similar they looked to each other. Black people have sharper facial features than a majority of white people, like the Swedes. Asian people, while similar to each other, you could easily tell which country they were from just by tan and eye size (Chineese have smaller eyes with sharper facial features while Japanese have a bit larger eyes with more subdued facial features. And don’t even get me started on more western asisans, like Azerbaijani, Turks and Armenians. One look is enough to guess). We may share facial features and body types, but man are we also distinct in our appearences.

I believe there was a stink in the comunity about it at the start of WoW where humans with brown skin looked like that.

They aren’t.

That Polish guild name suits you with these sorts of remarks, buddy.
