Without much going on right now it’s good time to invest in leveling some alts.
If you’re not aware, in the TWW, for every character you have that reaches max level you get an 5% XP bonus to any other character you are leveling, up to 25%.
So, if you have that max limit reached (25%), have WM enabled (10%), and are using the Darkmoon faire event XP bonus 10%), you’re getting a total outdoor leveling/XP bonus of 45%.
Here’s a quick guide for anyone who needs it and isn’t used to doing the Darkmoon Faire event.
*BEFORE YOU GO TO THE EVENT:
- Enable War Mode, since it’s an outdoor event, you get an extra 10% bonus, even though you’re not in a PvP zone
- Search your bank/inventory for any books/quests that can be only be turned in during the event (if you are like me and don’t throw them away, but save them)
- Learn all 4 professions, ie Mining/Blacksmith and Fishing, Cooking, this is just for the XP, but a great way to get some extra points for your professions in TWW
- Purchase 5 Simple flour, for cooking quest you will get inside the faire
*If you have Tailoring, purchase 1 Blue Dye, 1 Red Dye, 1 Coarse thread. If you have Alchemy, purchase 5 Moonberry juice. If you are Alliance, there is a guy by a wagon located right in front of the portal that sells the the Simple Flour. Inside of the Inn a guy sells Moonberry juice for the Alchemy quest.
If you have Blacksmithing, there is an anvil behind the quest giver that you pick up the fishing/cooking quest, in the right rear of him.
*ONCE YOU ARRIVE AT THE EVENT, DO THIS FIRST!
- Make your way immediately to the merry-go-round, buy some tickets at the vendor in front of it and get the XP bonus for 60 mins, otherwise, you’re going to miss out on that 10% XP bonus and also 10% if you still didn’t enable War Mode
Now that you’re ready for the XP gains:
- Activate those quests in your bag or turn in the quests if already active for the Darkmoon Faire event.
- On your mini-map, locate all the yellow marks for the profession quests and complete the mini-games for them
(if you have Mining, the quest doesn’t show up on the mini-map, but you get it from the troll at the shooting mini-game with the 3 targets, located next to the merry-go-round) - For the cooking quest, if you brought the Simple Flour you just go immediately to the boiling pot after accepting the quest (marked on the map) to cook the frog legs.
The Fishing quest can be completed by going to the end of the Darkmoon Faire area to the dock and fishing off those waters there, it takes about 3 mins, regardless of Fishing skill (I hate fishing, but this is quick)
Extra XP from Daily pet battles:
- You’ll see a little area with a few characters surrounded by pets, (near the troll with the shooting mini-game) that can completed by one character for some juicy extra XP.
I would recommend downloading the “Rematch” addon, as it makes it a lot easier. Those pets can be a little hard to defeat for those quests, but once you get the right pets figured out and can beat them consistently, remembering the technique/spell order, you can just save that pet group and battle them on any character for a juicy bit of XP
Pro tips:
- If your character is lvl 70, leveling through dungeons is by far the fastest way. You can sit at the merry-go-round and just queue, as dying does remove the bonus XP buff and you can immediately get it back if needed.
However, if you want to risk it, gathering professions can provide some nice extra XP, especially if you don’t like PvP but want that extra XP bonus. You’ll get materials/XP and can be all done while in the dungeon queue system. You can also quest, but it’s risky bc dying will remove the buff. Even in War Mode though, at least for gathering, most players are not going to bother you
- You can buy the Darkmoon Top hat from the goblin vendor next to the pet battle quest givers, for 10 tickets each. This is useful so that you don’t have to go back to the event. You can complete other quests there for more tickets at the Faire, but I usually buy a few hats and leave the faire, if you plan on questing I’d definitely take at least 3 with you
