Blizzard, please give her more things to say, or just shut her up. Especially if you’re going to give the commanders so much health in heroic warfronts.
The irony is that she leads the band of alien killers, who are by their own origin foreign to the light.
Source: old school wow books, either The last guardian or Beyond dark portal.
There it is explained why Tyralions ability to use light scares orcs away
Belf paladins… are special in so many ways
I facepalm at Liadrin, she is out of place ( by a light years away lol ) as a horde leader.
Like literally every Horde race can be priests so lorewise they are not really foreign to the Light…
Belfs and Tauren are the only Paladins. But considering belfs had a redemption Arc with Adal and the Lightwell I’d say the Light is definately with her lorewise no matter what you think or say
That was from Turalyon’s perspective, not a statement of fact. He was trying to reconcile the horrors he was witnessing with his faltering faith in the Light.
For months Turalyon had been struggling with his faith, and with one particular question: How could the Holy Light unite all creatures, all souls, when something as monstrous, as cruel, and as purely evil as the orc Horde walked this world? Unable to reconcile the two he had been unsure of himself and of the Church’s teachings, and had looked on with envy as Uther and the other Paladins gave blessings and shone bright with zeal, knowing he could not match their abilities.
But something this orc, this Doomhammer, had just said had registered on some level below conscious thought, and Turalyon tried to trace it. “Until your world belongs to us,” the Horde warchief had gloated. “Your world,” not “our world” or even “this world.”
And that was the answer.
He had remembered the Dark Portal, of course—Khadgar had told him about it when they had first met, while describing the orc menace, and it had been mentioned several times since then. But for some reason the truth of it had never really sunk in. Until now.
The orcs were not of this world.
They were foreign to this planet, to this very plane of existence. They came from elsewhere, and were powered by demons from even farther beyond.
The Holy Light did unite all life, everyone in this world. But not the orcs, who did not belong here.
And that meant his task was clear. He was charged with upholding the Holy Light and using its blazing glory to scour this world clean of all threats from without, and to maintain the purity within.
The orcs did not belong here. And that meant he could strike them down with impunity.
–Tides of Darkness
Agreed. Yet, she’s far from the first cringe-worthy character, and I have no doubt she won’t be the last…
Me’dan instantly springs to mind! ![]()
It’s pathetic of them to sneaky retcon original wow stories and introduce all of these actual abominations of the common sense like orc priests.
It’s ok to have both true bad and true good factions, it’s also ok to have diversity among the races but there is really no need to make everyone able to command everything.
Cause it is just cheapens the big story overall. Makes you care less for your choices.
This story went downhill during BC.
Blizzard has no idea which direction this story is going other than:
1: What’s popular and cool at the moment.
2: Making stuff up as they go along, regardless of previously established lore.
WoW lore is a joke.
We need to stop expecting some turn around because too much has been defiled for it to come back.
They would literally have to REWRITE the entire Warcraft story for me even take it seriously.
No need to burn the good tree if some branches are rotten.
Just cut the bad ones… Cause else we can end up with Holy High Priest Garrosh and Evil rebel Anduin nonsense
I’m more angry because when I was getting into WoW lore, it started going downhill.
Especially once I got to Burning Crusade lore.
If I’m still able to have a two hour long lore discussion with some guild mates on both discord and guild chat, I don’t think the lore has done downhill at all.
To be fair, that reads as being Turalyon’s opinion/interpretation. This can be evidenced by the fact that the Dranei and the Naa’ru are all very much connected to the light yet are also foreign to Azeroth. As I understand it anyone can wield the light if they can find justification in their actions for it and this is all that is - Turalyon justifying himself to himself.
*I haven’t read the books and most of my understanding of lore comes from reading WoW forums, so I maybe completely wrong. In that case, I apologise.
However, even if I am, that quote still fails to prove your point.
EDIT - Sorry, I just realised that you weren’t actually using the quote to support your own statement that the Orcs were foreign to the light, just explaining that your former statement was in reference to a character’s own opinion. Oops >.>
That’s exactly what it is; as we know from various explanations, including those in Chronicles, the Light really doesn’t care if it’s being used for good or evil, so long as the user’s faith is strong. It’s why Arthas stopped being able to be a Paladin after Stratholme, it’s why Zandalari Prelates can continue using the light even after Rezan was killed; just about anyone can use it, they just have to have strong faith.
But you definitely have a solid ability to state
Why should I really be the prick to remind you the basic logic…
If you have 0 research on the subject - you don’t judge peoples points.
Cause well you aren’t qualified for it.
And even if you do still are entitled to tell me what my quote fails to prove, give your arguments, cause your evaluation… fails to prove your point.
Sry, no participation rewards or autorespect just for being a human here. Wanna tell me that my opinion that old books had sense and new lore is abomination, read old books and learn new lore, see where it was and how strange and incoherent the transaction has been.
And orcs arent a minority, who’s rights are undermined. They are a brute savage force for destruction, hand picked for their savagery to wreck havoc and soften worlds, chosen by Legion masterminds. It’s ok to acknowledge they aren’t good.
To be fair TBC was the actual worst lorewise, everything was just madeup and shoved into place so “it works” with no thought about what it would mean for the story going forward. If there are retcons I am happy with it is tbc and Medan. Cause both of those were just actual sense and continuity trainwrecks.
Though i will admit bfa is getting close with how many characters are rewritten to make sense with what is happening (pretty much every single one of the horde followers), The entire alliance leader camp is apparently too naive to bring any blight precautions to UC, just so Jaina can look good and save everyone, its a mess, but still not as bad as TBC where it not only made no sense but also did not really further anything (if the bfa story is worth being pushed forward is debatable but at least it exists)
It wasn’t my intention to question your knowledge. I was questioning Turalyon’s. Since it seems his understanding of the light is incorrect, based on the information I had.
As an aside: I didn’t defend the orcs or to mean invalidate your opinion of old lore vs new lore (how would I have even known that was a thing for you?).
Regardless, I’m sorry if I caused any upset and for taking the thread off track.
Sounds more like things you think your faction was/is entitled to , because we agree its lore accurate already.
Draenai are also Alien to Azeroth. Also, Draenai Shamans and Dwarf shamans lolmao.
But in the end it all comes down to the wielder not the power as we have often seen.
If ur narrowminded stuck in Warcraft 2, then sorry but as Liadrin said to Tyralyon “The world has moved on without you”.
The adventurers of WoW which spans several years into the story already have travelled all over acquired gadgets, magic, technology, weapons, abilities etc
And still the average person considers Orcs to be grunts with a hat and half an armor and Humans footmen. Cliche completely…
We used parachutes to fight Deathwing and airships and everything, and whether you like it or not, if you read Chronicle 3, all that is canon now.
So yeah, the Horde is far from barbarians or the like or the Horde Thrall established. We have evolved.
So has the Alliance. Otherwise Draenai aliens and Void elfs wouldnt be allowed in the conservative basis the Alliance was built at
Well either that, or yours and your buddies standards are kinda low.
Agreed. Maybe someone could write an addon that selects random insults about our transmogs instead, that would be hilarious.
