Darkshore quest line /yawn

I thought I would level some low level human hunter and go for old time sake do the old Darkshore quest line and rep with Darnasus. HELL! I forgot how lame and stupid those quests are! Collect 4 crap meat, then collect 16 clams, then collect a dead bears carcass. Screw that!! Needless to say I abandoned the quest line and tried somewhere else. What the hell is up with all these gather this or collect that quests? I honestly hate them! Maybe they were fun 10 years ago but I would like to think that gaming has evolved and I would like to see Blizzard creating better quests thats actually fun. There are enough mindless games out there. WOW does not have to be one of them!

hahhahahahahahhahahahahaha
this comes to wow classic lovers i guess. I played on a vanilla server, walking everywhere was not fun in 2015. But could be fun in 2005 when no one knew mmorpg.
my point is you are proving that old wow was not that good. maybe spell /talent mix match could be good, but quests remain same, raids and dungeons getting better (by complexity and explanation-dungeon guide)

Why does Blizzard need to reinvent some old random questlines? Those were made years ago, yet you make the point that they were “okay” years ago. Oh wow, what could’ve happened there.

And kill/collect/escort quests are basically the bread and butter of MMORPG’s in general. You’re right, there’s not that much thought put into the quests themselves, and they’re lazy, but that’s the nature of the game. Nowadays we tend to get more variety because times have changed.

WOW started back in 2001. Are you still playing WOW3? Of course not. It is now 2018 and it is very obvious that something that was good back then during Vanilla is now out of demand. Yes of course old content needs to be updated with future expansions. I love what they have done with Darshore and Arathi Highlands and they should do with all places. Your argument that they should stay the same falls flat as all these places rarely have players in them and if players had a choice in leveling faster doing something else they will be obsolete and dead none stop! The only reason why a few are questing is because of the new changes on xp Blizz brought in on dungeons etc.

If they spent time each expansion updating the old zones then we would never get anything new. Yeah, the game is old, and it comes with problems like the one you mentioned, but there is no reason to start revamping old content just because a fraction of the player base thinks that it matters.

Most people would rather just have Blizzard leave the old zones as they are and focus on something new, and I’m one of those people. And it’s not a realistic plan for Blizzard either; to provide new content at the pace they currently are while all at the same time updating the old zones would require a ton of new staff and for what exactly? Most players will probably hate Blizzard for revamping if they did it anyway, and the ones that would like it would be in the minority.

Of course they can and they did. Not all of it that will be to costly but now we have seen two areas that got a remake. Can’t wait for others to follow. There are old content that can stay like Redridge mountain is a pretty cool quest line and fun to do. You also forget that they redesigned the whole area west of Undercity when the Worgen were introduced and now you can do a pretty cool quest line there as well as horde at low levels. This sort of investment is necessary as players will want to play those zones again. What is the point of having all this content but it is out dated and boring when there is room for improvement. I am very sure Blizz has the numbers and know which areas and quests lines have least appeal. -

What I don’t get is why Blizz so many times create content that they know very few will like but then they force us to do them by linking them through reputation to flying achievements etc. I wish for instance I had two choices with the Tortollan seekers - do their quests or just kill them. I will gladly kill them every time! I bet that if Blizz remove them as a rep requirement for flying no one will do their quests. Maybe a few to try them out or if the reward is worth it like money or an item you are after but lets say they rewarded nothing no one would do them for the sake of pure gaming fun!

Remember old games like Counter Strike people would play for 11 hours straight doing the same maps over and over? Those games gave 0 rewards and 0 progression. It was pure gaming fun! You chose to play them till your eyes bleed cause it was fun! That is what wow quests needs to be like - Less grind and more fun. I love WOW in overall - Love my characters and the rotations and the big world but the only thing I hate is leveling by questing and when you work and you are forced to grind rep with repetitive content in order to be able to fly etc. At least then create content I would want to do over and over not bloody hell help sea turtles reach the sea a hundred times? I hate those type of quests.

This is BFA right? It stands for Battle for Azeroth? Good so here is my Santa list:

Quest ideas:

  1. War campaign - join the war by attacking village by village where you are part of a guerrilla outfit ambushing the enemy by going solo as an assassin and taking out VIP’s (company execs helping the campaign) and enemy officers and bosses. Or you are party of a small group with orders taking a village or tactical point like a bridge or mine or factory or airfield etc.
  2. Ambush enemy factories or convoys by attacking caravans or money/gold coaches/ trains or ships
  3. Resources - invade islands by naval combat by controlling the waters quests - naval ships with broadside canons that allows you to take out opposing faction naval fleets and steal their cargo - but first you have to disable their ship with a ship gun fight using mortar fire and your broadside cannons (This will be awesome - go watch the Legendary ship battles on Youtube of Assassins Creed Rogue) then you get to repair and add their ship to your fleet or sell it off or sink it and you take their crew into recruitment or prisoners of war.
  4. Island invasions should start with a naval battle where you need to destroy the island gun points from sea before you can make a safe landing then you will need fight enemy forces by taking a valley with stealth players hiding in forests etc. - You will have a small army to command from the enemy forces you captured - you will have warriors, knights, lancers, spears, archers (anti air), heavy infantry (plate) and cavalry and healers, air support and engineers for siege engines and battering rams etc. and scouts. Scouts will check for hidden enemy forces in woods and grasslands. You should be able to position and move your army units and individuals like scouts using your map. You should also be able to instruct healers or engineers via your map etc. You will have to fight your way to the island fortress (with each island giving you different obstacles) and set up a siege while you need at all time defend your own npc general that adds a buff of rage/ tactical advancement to your army - if you lose him you lose the battle and you need to retreat back to your boat if you can and save as much of your troops as you can.
Once you have an island you should be able to mine the mines or farm it etc and get followers to get fishing boats out until all the resources has been stripped OR the island is taken back by enemy forces which you can then defend or take it back after you loosed an island. You can go to town inns or taverns to buy intel on any enemy planned invasions on your settlements or other settlements which might be vulnerable.
  5. Your followers or champions should be promoted and become stronger and better geared to more battles they survive and as they earn kills.
IF your champions or followers gets killed or captured they get executed or go to work as slaves in prison camps - You can then lay siege on the heavy fortified prison camp to liberate your followers. Those that were killed you need to go to the underworld to fight the gods or bargain with the gods after battle for their souls and resurrection. Followers, ships and all siege engines etc. should be stationed at your garrison which should now have a fleet that can actually sail and dispatched to an area of your choice and they are real ships you can actually sail. ( no more command tables sending imaginary ships into imaginary battles based on luck! )
Then you destroy the fortress and capture the enemy loot and commanders that opens up more quest lines from intel you gained.
  6. Dungeons etc bosses you should be able to capture or kill and use them in your raids against enemy cities/ villages or islands and forts etc. They only last one battle engagement use them wisely and need to be protected by archers against enemy air support (flyers) etc.
  7. The better you get the more the enemy starts to hate you or take notice of you being a threat and they start sending bounty hunters against you to take you out - this can open another quest line where you need to join a faction to train as assassin etc and then start on your own campaign to take out who ever have open bounties against you. - Bounty hunters can have solo assassins that try to murder you in cities or send a whole ship against you when you are at sea on a mission to ambush you while you are engaged and compromised etc.
  8. Reputation changes:
    Less grind more fun!
Lastly they should have alternative ways you can earn reputation. If you stay longer in invasions and battle you should be able to achieve higher ranks and gain more reputation by killing more enemy forces or maintaining dominance for your faction in an area on land or sea. You should also gain special rep for saving or assisting other players.

These are some ideas I can come up with - Some like the naval battles will need some dev work (can be sold as a bonus expansion - I will definitely buy it) as I don’t think the ancient wow engine WOW is still using will allow it but the rest should be possible.
