Darkspear customizations

I just wanted to figure out why Blizz went kinda “halfway” with most of the customizations we got.

No Green Forrest troll skin for Darkspear, but then they got Sand troll and Dark troll skin. No lore reason explaining sand trolls joining the horde and Dark Trolls are apparently extinct (with 1 remaining)

But Revantusk tribe (Forrest trolls) are actually allied with the Horde.

Same thing with the “High elf customizations”. Sure let’s add Skin and eyes but they didn’t even bother adding ONE natural hair color.

And don’t even get me started on the Nightborne… haven’t gotten anything new.

But my main focus here is the Darkspear. Why stop at Sand and Dark troll, why not Forrest trolls.

The fact no customization is coming for Shadowlands is very very disappointing. Especially since majority of the stuff people are asking for is already in the game. We aren’t really asking for anything new…

This i can not understand at all i just can not come to terms with them not giving NB nothing .
I can handle velfs not having black and white hair atm but NB got spat on :frowning:

Almost all races got spat on if I’m being honest. It’s just that NB drowned in the spit.

Night Elves got the most customization and it was almost everything they asked for.

I have ran out of likes for the day but i agree nelf got more then i ever wanted tbh but NB no idea why blizzard hates them so much .
During patch 9.0.5 lots of little changes were made like cloaks for undeads ,faces on belfs and a few other bits why didnt they work on NB and do those another time ? :frowning:

The fact that we didn’t get Forest Trolls, especially when they were initially displayed at the Blizzcon where the new customizations were revealed and now that we basically know we’re not getting anything else for a while, stings so much. Like they actually have the skin there, just hanging out - on in-game npcs, and presumably they had one ready to go for players, and they just… idk, decided not to give us it? What kind of mental gymnastics did they go through to eventually decide to just fully remove a skin colour for player characters that they clearly had ready for us and would take no effort to just leave alone?

Jakafo, I actually think you commented on a thread I started about this sometime before SL dropped. I’m glad somebody still feels as I do. Maybe I just love trolls a lot, but every time I look at my Warlock I think about the fact that he was meant to be a Forest Troll :upside_down_face:

Also, Nightborne have been dealt some serious disservices. I have a Nightborne Mage and I love her to pieces but I struggle with her because it feels like every other Nightborne looks like her. They definitely need some new stuff.

Same with my Troll fury Warrior who holds two axes. I like to imagine him as a Amani Axe thrower

This is what bugs me so much. I have a feeling they outsource their game and those devs do not know a thing about WoW lore.
How can you screw it up this bad? These Trolls aren’t even allied to the Horde and Dark Trolls are literally almost extinct lol.

Dwarf male idle animation is still bugged in 9.0.5 - they broke it during SL beta.
I have no faith in Blizz anymore - seriously.

They can’t even be bothered to fix such a noticeable animation bug so it’s not surprising that they won’t care about more customizations.

And yes, I have reported it countless times since Beta.

Forest (Amani) trolls are the best :muscle:

The green on the Darkspear trolls being some kind of light turquoise really did mess me up so bad I couldn’t even make a forest troll using that model. That, and the lankiness, but if their green looked better, them being lanky wouldn’t be as much of an issue.

Pigs must be flying. I’m actually agreeing with Jakafo.

But forest trolls are much bulkier, you can’t just slap a green skin on Darkspear and call it a day. Withing the current game engine it has to be a seperete race.

Well eyes well void elves had blue eyes from the start. Skin colors were just copy pasted skins from Blood Elves so almost no work required. Hair textures can’t be copied, you need to make new ones becasue of different UV mapping. And Blizzard as they said recently don’t wanna put much work into customization at this time. Maybe someday. Look how long it took them to update worgen and goblins.

Well, their females got one new earring option. It was already in the model file but wasn’t used previously.

It’s sad we won’t see more customization in SL after they put so much work and effort into making new, easly expandable customizaiton system(the only limit for options is how many you can fit on the screen, previously was 8). After remaking their workflow to add new customizations so it’s much easier for developers(previously they had to edit plain text in database, now they have visual tools)

There IS an in-game way they could fix this, but it’s more about whether or not they’d be willing to do it.

For orcs, they have two different “postures” - two different animation sets for those who like their orcs to either have a hunchback or not. I can imagine they could easily do the same thing for actual models, especially because the “bulky” variation of troll that we see throughout the game uses mostly the same animations and skeleton as our more familiar lanky trolls. So I guess what they could do is they could make a new bulky troll model especially for us (using one of the older ones would probably just anger people, if I’m honest - nobody wants to look like they’re from the Cata era) and give us a similar dropdown menu to switch between lanky or bulky.

With their current track record this is probably too much work for them though, they’d need to redo basically all troll textures to make them fit on a thicker model.

(Also I have seen some lanky Forest Trolls running around in-game, so they’re not lorefully impossible, I think just rare? I personally think they could just as easily give us the skin without the model)

I… ok I deserve that for trolling in the past

I don’t care much for trolls, but I do care about having customization options. The more the merrier.

Only the males. Females are exactly the same body type as the Darkspear.

So easy way to fix this is to add two body types for male trolls like the Orcs have 2 postures/body to choose from

Void elf NPC’s actually have Black hair. It’s just not available for the Players

Exactly. They have orc-like musculature, but are slightly taller and stronger.

I’m still perplexed as to why the Darkspear trolls didn’t get a single beard option.
