to be precise. Thereās a tl;dr at the bottom, that says:
DBM isnāt nor will it ever go away as long as I draw breath. I always plan to work on it to best of my ability and availability.
I just hope youāll continue to support me so level of that availability doesnāt change, because Iād rather be doing that than splitting time with something else.
Iām no millionaire, never was and never will be, and thatās perfectly fine. I just want to make mods and take care of my mom without worrying about stuff. Thatās my only ask.
Whatās going on at Activision is a travesty and Iām not trying to take attention from it. On contrary, I want to put MORE eyes on it for all the content creators out there that get chastised for sticking with blizzard even at risk to their actual livelihoods, because they believe in what they do.
Supporting a product you regularly use, especially when itās being developed by very few or even just a single person is a great thing and I applaud it.
But stick to the facts and perhaps let the authors speak for themselves, rather than stating that the addon would not continue, if they didnāt get āa lot more support than everā.
That said the reason i dislike this is because i have tried BW and i donāt like the way it handles info / announcements the same DBM does. But DBM does it better.
Thatās the addon dev that makes probably more money than any other addon but still wants more because itās āa lot of workā haha yeah I doubt itās 40/hrs a week averaged throughout the year but from Patreon alone without actually seeing what Tiers people are on they probably make 2-3k a month minimum from that, then some more from donations⦠THEN whatever Overwolf is paying them from revenue and whatever deal he mentioned cutting with them at the start thatās supposed to be paying more than Twitch did.
Not sure why he continues to expect to make TONS of money off this addon that cannot by Blizzards ToU be monetized.
He mostly seems upset Limit dropped him earlier this year because he wasnāt keeping up with demand and all the stuff they wanted implemented to help them with their race stuff. Thereās probably a reason a lot of the top end guilds switched over to Bigwigs honestly.
Well, there are still alternatives out there even if DBM does go under. The sad truth to the matter is that even if you have millions of people using your addon, youāll make dimes at most. Thereās no real reason for anyone to support addon creators monetarily (other than the kindness of their heart), which is why addons are merely passion projects for most.
