Subject: Request for Character Restoration Due to DDoS Attack (Soulseeker – Horde)

Hello,

I am a member of the Soul of Iron guild — the first Horde guild on the Stitches server to defeat Kel’Thuzad. We have since moved to the Soulseeker server, where we are actively raiding and recently became the fastest Horde guild to clear Blackwing Lair.

During the night of July 31st to August 1st, we were helping our guild master farm quest items from elite dragons for the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline, required for the opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj.

Unfortunately, due to a DDoS attack, several members were disconnected mid-event. As a result, we lost two crucial characters: our lead healer Karterii and our off-tank Ordzig.

This unexpected loss has significantly impacted our ability to continue progression in AQ20 and AQ40.

We kindly ask you to investigate this issue and consider restoring these characters.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Best regards,
Abiboka
Soul of Iron – Horde, Soulseeker Server

My friends characters died due to a DDoS attack (mass disconnect) while we were in the Black Mountain Depths dungeon. Not only my character died, but the entire group. Character names: Freeman, Dukanio, Apteka, Arthorias, Maclaud. The date and time of the mass disconnect: August 1, 2025, 23:08 server time. Server: Soulseeker. You have previously restored hardcore characters who died during mass incidents. Please restore our characters, as the death occurred due to a mass incident…

My undead rogue on Soulseeker died August 1st due to DDOS attack. He had just gotten 6/8 Darkmantle gear set and was really excited to start raiding. Died during UBRS run at the Rend encounter. His name is Zerith.

+1. The complete silence over obvious server issues/DDOS are what pisses me off the most really.

Subject: Request for Character Restoration (DDoS-Related Death)

Dear Support Team,

My character “Uralec” on soul seeker died during the recent DDoS attack, which caused unfair gameplay conditions. Several guild members have already been restored, and I kindly ask for the same consideration.

Details:

  • Character: Uralec

Thank you for your help!

Calling a server problem a “DDoS” attack does not mean that it was one.

I have been around during a DDoS attack, I lost all connectivity. Blizzard called it a DDoS attack. The more recent episodes were different. I had very severe lag but managed to stay online. Blizzard did not call this a DDoS. One might say that they were at fault for not being more forthcoming as to the cause.

BUT we signed up for

"by playing on these realms, you accept that your character’s death is permanent for whatever the reason.

This includes disconnections, lag, server outages…"

Large scale character loss has been around for a while, Stitches comes to mind. People still create characters, agree to the terms and grumble when they are held to those terms.

If you don’t agree to those terms, click the Decline button.

Should Blizzard have a robust system in place for such disconnects? Yes, IMO.

Should Blizzard secure their systems better? Yes.

But they don’t.

Well, it was like this for a whole week, so people should accept disconnects each night at ~23-0 ST?
Thats not how it should be. ToS or not.

It does not help to educate people who are well aware of what they have accepted and what they are playing with, but this extend we had, should be nothing we would need to accept.
The silence about it is nothing we have to accept, the absolute no information policy in here is nothing we have to accept, the comparison of the visibility of blue posters here vs the us forums is nothing we have to accept.
The players here just want fairness and transparency.
They know very well what they are dealing with server wise and accept it if it occurs occasionally.
But if it was like in June when even the webpage here did not work, Heroes of the Storm and every other iteration of WoW and Battle.net did not work for like 5 minutes, causing deaths
And lately a whole week of regular disconnects
Thats nothing we have to accept
And the lack of information or actions, is also nothing we have to accept.
