Dead Retribution Paladin Talents & what we could replace them with?

Hopefuly the talent trees are just a first try since Blizzard (and any Ret Paladin who plays the game) know that there are some TERRIBLE & USELESS talents in the Ret Tree. Some haven’t been used since early Legion and some haven’t been touched in BFA at all. We all know the talents we are talking about, and even if we are sometimes forced to use one of them we do it with a tear in our eye because they are just SO BORING!!

1: The Fires of Justice: BORING, and lackluster compared to its two counterparts.
2: Zeal: BORING, now we have Empyrean Power (which SHOULD be baseline), there could be a talent to increase Empyrean Power since Zeal is the go to talent if we are using Divine Storm as a Spender.

3: Repentance: I would make it a 1 minute cooldown and instant cast like it used to be in previous (better) expansions. This would give pvp’ers the chance to CC two players in two GCD’s, making the interplay between Ret and different classes more interesting.
4: Justicar’s Vengeance - OMG, does ANYONE use this garbage? Now that we have Word of Glory back we could have a talent which empowered that instead. For example: Once you have been healed by Word of Glory you get a heal of 25% Spellpower every 2 seconds for 8 seconds. There are LOADS of WoG talents which would be WAY better than the useless Juticar’s Vengeance!
5: I would also swap out Righteous Verdict for Final Verdict. (Final Verdict would increase the damage of Templar’d Verdict by 10% as well as increasing the range from 5 yards to 8 yards, also giving us the awesome Final Verdict animation back!

As well as these maybe we could get another PVP talent or two? Something like the Expurgation DoT on Blade of Justice which also increased the range of Blade of Justice by five yards. A damage and range increase would be nice on one of our only ranged abilities.
I have always wanted our Magic Dispel back. Maybe: "Cleanse Toxins is now “Cleanse” and removes all negative magic effects on the enemy target as well as poisons and diseases, but it’s cooldown is increased from 8 seconds to 12 or 15 seconds.
Since we are not a healing spec we should suffer a longer cooldown on the spell. It could also not be used with the PVP talent Cleansing Light (or get rid of Cleansing Light completely since nobody uses it).
Now we have Sacrifice back why couldn’t Ret Paladin also have Ultimate Sacrifice as a PVP talent, or two charges of Blessing of Sacrifice and Blessing of Protection?
Just some ideas.

Also why make our only mobility 1 minute cooldown again? You tried that once and it failed and was changed back immediately! It was fine as it was.
Another PVP talent could be giving up our Divine Steed for Long Arm of the Law for a 3 second 50% speed boost when we used Judgement, like we used to have. It was awesome!!!
Or Pursuit of Justice which could increase your movement speed by say 6% per Holy Power stored, up to 30% movement speed at 5 Holy Power.
Or we could have The first version of Pursuit of Justice as baseline - a 15% movement speed increase at all times.
This would give us a minimal movement speed increase which we used to have before we were the “Wheelchair Spec”, and keep Divine Speed at a 45 or 50 second CD.

I was hoping for seals back so we could have the AWESOME Empowered Seals, the best Paladin talent ever in the worst Expansion ever. In fact I think WoD was the best Expansion for Ret Paladin Spells and Talents. But we will never get this again so I would be happy with any of the other ideas.

It has holy power, so it’s bad !!! Hey, that’s what they claim !!

Troll aside, I agree, some talents really need to get the hell out.

It was used during legion in T19, using liadrin and the cloack. After that, well, as we know, it’s a bad talent. At this point, maybe Crusader strike enables the use of hammer of wrath could be a great replacement.

It’s boring, it barely has impact on gameplay, just a dull passive.

I agree on that, as I said on my topic, I feel like it should be baseline. it’s meh to swift a baseline passive to a talent (It should be the other way, useful talents should be moving to baseline).

It’s crap. I agree.

Ranged finisher seems not a solution. I still think that exorcism should be back, as a ranged spell.

We used to have clemency across all spec. Time to bring that back !

Still waiting for lothar’s might. Or reducing horse back to 30s CD.

Seals won’t be back (I do prefer them over auras)…sadly.

Me who uses this 24/7 : >:(

Not to be rude, but did you just close your eyes, point, and say “I’ll take that one”? If you are stacking anything but Mastery Blade of Justice is better, if you have high Mastery it’s HoW every time!
It’s the most boring talent on the row and does less dmg than the others.

I have a sustain paladin since i mostly play ret in openworld

I know paladin is about high bursts, but i just run around with that talent + 60% haste ( inquisition + x3 Relentless Inquisitor + Corruptions ) With this talent theres always an abillity ready, without it you will have small rooms of 1-2 secound waits

my comment was mostly ment as a joke x)

BTW dont get me wrong, you make good points, i felt like making this comment just for giggles really

I have never in my paladin lifecycle used zeal for example lol its useless

Each to their own, my friend! I prefer loads of proc based gameplay, like Blade of Wrath and Divine Purpose (although DP isn’t the best in that row).
Replacing Zeal, Fires of Justice and Justicar’s Vengenance would really opem up the Ret talent tree though.
I like to stack Crit and have 3 of those Expurgation traits which give crit Blade of Justices a DoT over 6 seconds. They crit for 25k on each tick!!! Over 30k with wings up, It’s insane.
This is why I think Empyrean Power should be Baseline, replace Zeal with something which powers that up, and replace Fires of Justice with the Expurgation trait also making Blade of Justice a 15 or 20 yard range instead of 12 yards. Or replace it with a talent like we had in Legion which either made Judgement hit two targets, or increase its damage by 30% and get rid of the “Law and Order” PVP talent and give Judgement 3 seconds of Hand of Hindrance - the 70% slow. Failing that give a talent which increases the damage of Judgement by 30% or so and giving it an 8 second 5% haste buff.
There are loads od things which could be done to make our baseline spells more interesting, and also give us some new spells for those who want more buttons.
I’d love a talent to increase the damage of Judgement and give it a 3 second slow to help us as the “Wheelchair Spec”.
Our Pony spell should remove slows and roots, as well as making the pony immune to slows and roots, since it is out only mobility and can be completely screwed by a slow or a Frost Nova. 1 minute for that???
