Dead servers MEGATHREAD - Ghostlands/Dragonblights plea to Blizzard

They could just do 1-3 megaserver with different channels ( 10 versions of orgrimmar to join)

but they want you to buy server port on your mains instead

I just saw this and I think blizzard saw it

It is obvious that blizzard only responds to harmless, positive stuff

never to negative stuff or a gameplay/system suggestion by the community

if there is money by doing nothing, nothing will happen

Time to pick up on those connections again Blizz. The SL hype is over for a long time, save the dying servers (and the dying alliance while u’re at it).

bump for blizzard killing their own game by not doing this

Just want to add to what Mehe has said (and also bump the thread).

I have been on LB since day 1 of my WoW playing, back in 2007. Apart from a brief 6 months on a different server I returned home. I am the GM of Easy now and the guild has been going for 15 years. We have had to collab with other alliance guilds every tier for the last few expansions towards the end of the tier to keep raids going on end-heroic and early mythic raids.

Recruitment is literally like shouting into a black hole, I post every time I’m in Oribos and Korthia and have never ever got a response. Pretty much every lvl 60 I expect is already in a guild and because the majority of the guilds are in the same position there’s nothing to entice somebody to a different guild.

We have only been able to continue raiding until now because a lot of our members have been with us 10 years or more, and so consider our guild / server home.

My horde toons are on Draenor and whilst I don’t want the trade spam that they have to deal with, a server merge is desperately, desperately needed or indeed like others have said a free open transfer to another server of our choice so our community doesn’t die off after 15 years!

Please Blizz…

Black hole… thank you for a perfect description of how it feels for me on Aggramar trying to recruit

They really should merge low and medium pop servers. I chose this one in WoD because it was the most balanced and was solidly populated, but it has been completely dead in recent years. Paying for each character separately to change the server is simply not right and nothing will be resolved that way. Dead servers only speed up the game’s dying process.

It makes me sad seeing how bad Quel’thalas is doing, it was my first server and I spent a decade there, Blizzard is bleeding subscribers like no tomorrow, they cannot ignore things like this, I see cross realm in Oribos which you think every server would turn off as it’s the hang out point but nope.

It’s a good indicator that the vast majority of realms need help.

And now Blizz have announced that they will be adding “character bundle” options for realm transfers! That makes it even less likely they plan to carry on with connections. :frowning:

I don’t want to leave my server. I don’t want to lose my character names. I’m sure many other people feel the same.

Yes, I’m really worried that this means their focus is not at all on connecting the realms who missed out on connections last year.

If they make the bulk deal an attractive enough price (which of course they should), I’m worried about what it will mean for my low pop realm. Why would anyone choose to come to a place where the AH is more expensive, fewer items are available and there are fewer guilds to join?

Ya, same here. The names are important parts of my characters identity/theme/purpose.

I’ve been on Aszune since pre-any expansion and its a realm I consider home.

Recently though I have been making characters on high/full pop realms and I am getting fond of those new characters. It doesn’t change the fact though that many high or full pop realms just high/full of horde mains, so being on a ‘high or full’ pop realm doesn’t always do much for you alliance wise.

I suspect with bulk transfer we’ll see one or two big alliance realms, but the majority will remain horde and low pop realms will effectively be near-zero pop realms.

Okay I may have lost my love for SL very early and it has left me a little salty towards Blizzard, so I apologise in advance for being so negative.

But I personally find this bundle deal offensive, they stopped the connections with no explanations and despite the continual requests for updates on if they were to resume. I have seen many people on the forums who explain that the subscription we pay is not for game updates it’s for access to the servers/realms, so if this is true, who is responsible for server/realm updates? This is not a new phenomenon, dead/dying realms have been begging for connections for a long time and nothing has been done, so I assume a good portion either paid the transfer fees or rerolled on different realms. Blizzard has made a lot of money on this and I feel like they are trying to double dip now.

I believe that they do not wish to spend money on this and instead have come up with the idea that they will leave it to the playerbase to sort out, whilst at the same time charging them for the ability to do this.

If a lot of Alliance players then move to Horde as has been the trend of late, this not only leaves the Alliance in an even worse state, but it absolves Blizzard of any responsibility whatsoever, as it was player’s choice.

To sum up

Maybe this move will empty the low pop realms for good and then it will be easy to merge them all?

One can dream…

They in part stopped it because there are many English realms ‘un-officially’ allocated to a language that is not English by the players on said realm, despite the realms being labeled for English speaking. When Blizzard hit those landmines during connections it created realm wars, countless thousands of language abuse reports and other hate.

And I get why it annoyed many people.

They would be chatting and understanding each other normally then suddenly one day - everywhere they go they see walls of text they don’t comprehend from people of not their usual realm pairing…

I know what you say is true as I remember seeing some of the complaint threads about this Yorda

But for me this was a lack of research on Blizzard’s side when making such connections. I know we may not agree, and that’s okay I don’t expect everybody to agree with me, but for me this ‘bundle offer’ is Blizzard asking the players to finish the job they themselves didn’t do and then asking the player to pay for the privilege of finishing their job for them.

Ya, that’s what it is.

They created a problem and the customer has to pay for the solution (in their eyes, as that’s how a lot of businesses do it.)

I wouldn’t be surprised if cross faction play and/or being able to join a guild on any realm became a 10.0 feature. So those who do use the paid bulk transfer will feel robbed/angry if that’s what happens in 10.0.

I don’t think there is an issue with the bundle deal as such. When they first removed the restrictions from realms with how many characters you could have, I moved all my characters to Draenor and Silvermoon.

However the bulk deals should not come at the expense of realm merges.

If possible, those with a twitter account, could keep reminding Ion and others about this issue.

They read twitter.
I doubt they read these forums much…

I believe we have discussed this before Puny? I also moved characters from Earthen Ring to Draenor when ER was dying so yes I paid not only for a realm transfer but a faction change too. I wasn’t happy about it, but I wanted to continue to play with my friends who had decided to transfer to a more populated server, this was late 2009 early 2010 can’t remember the exact date. So I am not in any way telling people they should not do this, why would I when I did it myself, but once they started the realm connections and gave people hope, I think it is cruel and unjust to take it away and then to add insult to injury, say well we’ll give you a discounted bundle for you to pay yourselves and complete what we won’t do.
