It’s still better then no trade chat
I feel for anyone stuck on a dying/dead realm. I do hope they’ll revisit connections.
I’ve given up on it at this point tbh, just making the best of it but I hold my heart as recruitment officer whenever a raider wants to step down.
Another update from our server… we’re somehow out of Laestrite Ore on the AH
Don’t you worry, maybe they will give us a discount for the bundle service once Bob decides that he wants another heli.
haha that was quick! There is now a 30% off sale on transfers
Yeah not enough i’m not paying transfer money just because they won’t fix the issue or even acknowledge it. Even then my guid won’t move so i’m not budging as I love them
Transfer is not the solution, its a desperation measure.
The solution is connection more realms.
Yeah it was more a reply to @rologas than a suggestion for people.
I honestly think that connecting realms is not the solution. Having seen it happen - it works for a while, but then slowly over time, people start migrating again. Of course, as far as Blizzard is concerned, that’s ideal for them - either with or without connections - because people will be doing their job for them, and paying for the privilege. Unfortunately it means that those left are stuck on a dead realm, yet again - only this time with more servers linked to them.
According to wowprogress, for example, there are around 90 realms (I believe the connected ones are just counted as one realm each). If you averaged the total population showing for all those realms, it would come out at just over 6000 people per realm. there are around a quarter of those who have more - some substantially so. Which means a lot of realms also have substantially less.
I reckon that about 15k realm population is a reasonable number to have, to have an active realm, without any queue issues. Which means, if my calculations are correct, that actually we only need around 37 realms. And this isn’t taking into account the number of realms that are already connected to others - some only to one other realm, but others to multiple, yet still feel dead.
Of course the figures on wowprogress are all estimated and, the smaller the realm, the less likely they are to be accurate, as they apparently only count characters that either raid, or in a guild that raids. So for smaller realms, where more and more the only people left are those who don’t (or can’t) raid, or are in a guild which no longer raids, they’re not counted.
They’re not reducing the number of realms because they state that they don’t want to forcibly shift people from realms they’re attached to, or force them potentially to have to have a character name change when they move. Yet they do stuff all the time that upset people and it doesn’t normally stop them. Unless it will cost money. And closing down realms will cost them lost revenue of people transferring voluntarily. And they’re stuck not wanting to connect realms because (a) they don’t appear to have the staff any longer to do it, and (b) things starting going horribly wrong last time, and they don’t want to spend the time and effort fixing a similar problem again.
To the OP. I play on your new connected server - The Maelstrom. Our “mega-server” is comprised of a ridiculous amount of servers now, nowhere near the worst offender, and it’s still pretty dead as of now. When this post was made you had two servers together and complaining it was dead. Now we together have 6 → Deathwing, Dragonblight, Ghostlands, Karazhan, Lightning’s Blade, The Maelstrom. The worst I could see have 10 connected realms in one. And yet it’s very much dying populations still.
Just really wanted to +1 this thread.
All the server limitations are ridiculous these days. There are like a handful of “real servers” in this game currently. And hundreds of dead ones!
Honestly at this point i’d be happy with them closing the servers and giving us a free transfer to our realm of choice, but that’s never going to happen sadly
4 year old thread and still they do nothing.
Meanwhile in tbc… Burning Crusade Classic Realm Consolidation Coming August 10 - WoW Classic / Burning Crusade Classic Discussion - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)
Blizzard just doesn’t give a damn, do they?
Lmao. I mean it is good to do this stuff for Classic but they really should do it for Retail too.
I know its annoying
Classic vanilla had 3 batches of FCM and 1 lot of them was from DEAD TO FULL realms
Classic SoM has had the same as above
Classic TBC has had 1 batch of free move’s
all in the space of 3+ years yet NOTHING for retail unless you paye its vile and disgusting actions by actiblizz.
waves from Aggramar
Well, if they plan to connect more servers we’ll probably hear about it soonish considering Dragonflight is apparently planned for release by year’s end.
Of course, they’ll definately wait till the current sale on Character Transfers is over…
I agree with this thread.
Sorry to see this still hasn’t been sorted have a bump
