Hey all,
Before I start I am very new to DH and have only been playing it around 3 days at max level in shadowlands and have managed to PuG to 1401 with a W/L of 56 wins out of 111 games. My main is 1.8k exp currently in 2v2, but due to the fact I am playing WW God Class I don’t really see it as much of an achievement. The reason I decided to make a DH as an alt though, was because I felt that their CC tool kit was rather similar in that they both have an AOE Stun, and both have a Sap/Prison ability that can be used at range.
What I didn’t anticipate was the fact that;

Leg Sweep vs Chaos Nova;
The ability costs for DH and is Free for Monk, so there are odd situations where I need to use a global to generate Fury in order to Peel/Go Offensive. -
Sap vs Prison;
Sap is half the CD and that does mean something, HOWEVER I think I am using it wrong, I am throwing out Prisons just to peel and rarely using them to build pressure through it stopping them to heal the target. -
Lack of Slow;
I know that DH Mobility is crazy, but I do find that the lack of a slow does sometimes leave me Baywatch running which I did not anticipate. I think it might be a case of me needing to trade Fel Rushes for their Mobility CD’s but sticking on something such as a mage has been almost impossible in some games. -
Lack of Disarm;
This would totally change my game on a DH as an ability to peel! I had not realised just how amazing that was for me as a monk to be able to use.
Granted, this is all from the perspective of 2v2, which if I ran Monk/DH/X in 3v3 then I could actually sort out a large number of these issues. Equally playing DH/Caster/X would be useful and this may just be the fact that DHs are not a strong 2v2 class at the moment?
The first question I have is regarding warriors, whom I have 100% loss ratio against in 2v2 at the moment. I simply can’t fight them face to face, but I am confident in my ability to dip in and out and trade efficiently with them, however, this often causes them to focus on my healer for consistent pressure (I have done most of my games with a HPriest for some context) and they quickly realise that I will not be able to out damage him, and that more often than not my healer will go oom long before them. I have tried to watch some videos and have watched Trens videos to gain some insight, however I simply can’t keep them off my healer.
This leads me on to my next question which is peeling! I did not know that peeling without a slow would be so painful, is it a case of that I should be playing with a different healer? Something with a built in slow perhaps? My experience so far has not been great with Resto Shamans and I think that the fact they are slightly underrepresented is an issue in finding someone who will 1 play with me and 2 be able to live in this bursty meta. I feel as though I use my stun, then my prison and after that, if they still have not been able to get away/top themselves that I am going to be trading darkness which has made me VERY susceptible to switches.
This issue with being switched to without my Darkness has had me running slightly scared, using the Vesture of Darkest Hour legendary in almost every single game! This means that if I am not the kill target at any point, then the proc of that legendary isn’t used and I have gained nothing, but I also feel that I am struggling to capitalize on the Chaos Theory proc a lot of the time, because I am either waiting on it or I am trying to play around it and the damn this proccing when I am on low Fury. I have no idea how to get the most out of the item and I think that it is severely ruining my damage output in arena!
LASTLY and I know you are all thinking, thank god! How on earth do I effectively use Metamorphasis? At the moment I am using it as a last line of mobility/just popping it randomly and there must be something more constructive to do with it.
Thank you for all the help in advance! I would appreciate feedback from any and all classes really and maybe even some insight on what people think a DH is good at capitalizing on/what they struggle with when facing a DH.
I am also by no means saying “BUFF DH” I am not experienced enough to know and anything works at 1400, even when against 220ilvl players but just made the WW vs DH comparison for some perspective on why I made a DH as an alt.
