Sanctify:
Releases miraculous light at a target location, healing up to 5 allies within 10 yds for (357.93% of Spell power).
Instantly cast Heal on your most injured ally at 65% effectiveness, then release a miraculous light which heals 4 more of your most injured allies for the same amount.
Making Sanctify rely on Heal ties Holy’s single target healing and aoe healing together. this enables a more streamline design where buffing your Heal, which the spec heavily relies upon ever since Shadowlands, also contribute to your aoe healing.
Further, this fixes the inability of Holy Priest to reliably heal frequent aoe damage instances in m+, while also creating room to maximize your raid output by more sophisticated gameplay, making it more interesting for advanced players, while also not too punishing for new ones.
The innate cooldown of Sanctify as a big rewarding spell which is available only once in a while, fits perfectly for the spots where Holy struggles the most. Big aoe heal on a ~20 seconds cooldown is exactly what it lacks in m+, while buffing it will not create too big of a difference in overall hps in raids (where holy could also use a minor buff).

It’s always good to see people bringing discussions about fixing our spec, but I fear your suggestion won’t fix it.
The real problem is that 70% of our spells and talents are vastly inefficient or outright dead.
We have spells with fantastic mechanics, like prayer of mending and circle of healing, which have a vastly undertuned healing values. And way too many of our talents are dead.
They’re not going to fix holy.

DF S3/DF S4 tier set bonus aka rng serenity/sanctify charges should have been baked to TWW talent trees,
Its a good idea, but holy priest needs a full rework. The class feels like its stuck in the past, with outdated tools that just arent suited to modern WoW dungeons.
- We have next to no utility. PI feels more like its holding our class back than it benefits the priest player. MD is next to useless with a 2 min cd. Mind Soothe and fortitude are definitely nice to have.
- We have no interrupt or cc, especially after the interrupt changes in War Within. Unacceptable
- We have no AoE healing tools to speak of. That one is just criminal. Using our single target heals for aoe might have worked with old dungeon design, but in War Within dungeons it just isnt enough.
- We have too many talents that are undertuned or downright useless. Prayer of healing and circle of healing are a joke you dont event pick. Holy Word: Sanctuary doesnt no relevant healing. Divine Hymn? A channeled aoe heal that does no relevant healing, unacceptable. Prayer of Mending, one of our signature abilities? More used for its extra effects, that its healing.
- We have no mobility excpet movement speed, and need outside help if a lot of movement is required.
All of these are just outdated limitations other classes got rid of, but for some reason holy priest gets stuck with them. There is no reason to bring holy priest to a group over ANY of the other healers. None. What blizzard needs is a vision of what a holy priest should be.
I am still hoping that the silence on holy priest means that theres a big rework coming up some time soon.
Same here. Until theres a fundamental rework of the spec, im unsubbed. Its the only spec I really enjoy playing.

while free serenity was kinda great, it would not help much right now.
serenity in DF was basically lay on hands and you could use it 4 times in a row.
But even in DF holy priest was not great for heavy aoe fights.
the issue is that:
a) the group takes more than 100% of their HP in a very short aoe (grim batol last boss, cot boss 3, 4, 5 and dawn boss 2 and 3…)
b) group takes a 90% hp which follows another 90% hp blast 3 secs later (dawn, cot…)
holy cannot top a group in like 10 seconds.
serenity is great (was) to top off a single target blast but is crap for group healing.
the joke is that you have to play oracle and spam heal on yourself with GS to group heal. but even that has a long cd and is not even remotely enough.
on my shamy i can cover many aoe situations.
- tripple healing stream totem that instanlty chain heals the whole group for like 3mio each
- healing tide + healing stream
- spirit link
- ascendance
- AG
when i am at my last cd, the first cd row is back up.
holy has what? oh right, not a single aoe heal lol
