I am wondering what I should play in shadowlands, shaman or DK. And I am trying to feel a kind of estimate. So I am trying to base it on how they were in BFA.
So how would you guys describe the difference between DK-DPS and DPS-shamans while pugging for M+ and raiding spots? Through out the course of 8.1 to 8.3 BFA?
both are bad too pug.
DK has a little edge over shaman but generally both bring very little to groups.
DK can at the moment bring massive AOE dmg but that doesn’t work in pugs.
In Shadowlands nobody knows. Wait for the last month of Beta, then you can actually decide.
If you want to dps you will be better off choosing a pure dps as they will always have a top dps spec which is usually wanted in end content (guess WL is currently an exception…)
Both are pretty much dead in m+ and myth raiding. You can find both cleared 12/12 myth and in high keys but its just because some people are keepers not because these classes shine in anything.
Exceptions can be unholy dk in MDI they can pull huge dmg when they have time to prepare and pull is big enough. But its not gonna happen in pug or when you push keys.
Since you’re aiming for shadowlands, we can’t give you an exact answer. But based on historical data, DK tends to have 1-2 good tiers at the very least in each expansion, but I cannot remember the last time shamans were a must pick.
But since both classes have at least two role options, you can expect them to not completely fall off. Tanks and healers are always in high demand for pugs. The only time a tank or a healer isn’t great is if they’re completely underpowered and others know that.
It’s impossible to say right now how anything might look in SL.
What i would do if you really wanna push M+ in SL, start making a spread sheet or something with the pro’s and cons for each class/spec, and level 2-3 classes the first week of SL, and then decide after the first tuning round before Mythic raid opens.
