Somthing has been playing on my mind Since the afterlives animations were shown, in particular Bastion. When uthers wound is inspected a flash back plays of his death. Afterwords we discover frostmourne holds the power of the Maw.
Arthas uses frostmourne and the helm to ressurect corpses to serve as the scourge we see this through out the Northrend storyline. However he also uses it and his other powers to create his scourge born Death Knights.
We are a rune based class that is how we get our powers. Similar / The same runes that are on frostmourne and are from the maw. Because Death Knights use these runes and are created by frostmourne and arthas does that mean Death Knights are infact the Children of The Maw.
Infused by its dark energies, empowered by its runes.
Death Knights certainly seem to have a closer connection to the Maw than most classes.
But the Lich King borrowed a great deal more from Maldraxxus than the Maw, likely intentionally. It’s likely that while he was fine with personally controlling the power Frostmourne and the Helm drew from the Maw, there was considerable risk at allowing that power to spread throughout the Scourge as a whole.
The Lich King, any of them, never wanted to bow to the Jailer. It’s doubtful they’d have given him any more influence on the Scourge than strictly necessary.
Oh I agree I’m sure they new what would happen if they allowed the full power to be released.
But if we are empowered by the maw if we are part of it. What’s stopping it being used against us. Are we feeding it with every death we cause more so then the rest.
Yeah, wouldn’t it be great if we went to kick the Jailer’s butt and he went “Ahahahaha foolish death knights” and Lich Kinged us all to turn against everyone?
We used to side step to Maw at will. Now we ‘embrace the power of shadowlands’. We have always been able to linger in and out of SL. Or at least ever since 2016 !
