is there an actual way to cancel it for bursting?
i know how to permanently stay in it with /cast !Defensive Stance, but i’m trying to find a way to cancel it for my avatar / killing window.
tried /cancelaura Defensive Stance - but it won’t work

I’m not sure what you mean but it seems like you use D stance at all times, which btw isn’t very efficient since most of the time you’re not taking significant damage. Defensive Stance is a talent, which you can drag from the talent bar to your cast bars and cast like any other spell. When you press it, you activate D stance, and when you press it again (it has 5 sec cooldown to press again) you take it off and go into “normal” stance.
in fact, defensive stance is off global, use the gcd of colossus to click stance.
