Default UI raid frames bug?

Since Anniversary TBC prepatch was released, my raid frames are no longer the same.

There is the obvious bug where a feature is no longer working, which is supposed to desaturate players’ frames when they’re out of healing range. This one has been mentioned on the forums and reddit before.

But there’s another problem, which has to do with the lay-out of the groups. I cannot arrange the 8 groups of a full raid into a grid of 2x4 – the default arrangement of raid groups before prepatch. Currently in prepatch, all 8 groups are placed next to each other. This arrangements makes the raid frames stretch over halfway across my screen, severely impairing visibility of the rest of the game.

I’ve been using a work-around where I set the groups to “Combine Groups (Vertical)” and sort by Group, while setting the column size to 10. This creates one large 10x4 block of player frames similar to the old default, but without group enumeration and without group borders.

The option to limit column size (or row size) is not available when in the “Separate Groups” setting.

The new UI just sucks to be frank.

You need to use add-ons to make it remotely usable, which is ironic given that its purpose was to remove the need for add-ons.

If blizzard can’t even design a half decent UI, it tells you a lot about the incompetencies baked within.
