This honestly makes the current character screen seem even more flawed if newly created belfs technically aren’t even horde anymore. Wouldn’t that make them allied aswell? And what about Dranei or Pandaren?
You can say that you are playing past events for example a newly created DK is still under Arthas and not Bolvar or a DH the starting area is before they got imprisoned
World of warcraft does not update the old content , which is why allied races start at 20 and are fresh members of the horde instead of having a whole story and start zone
The dreanei started as soon as they crashed am i right? Then made relations with the alliance
They really should, especially with the release of classic it would be the perfect opportunity to rework some old pieces of content. I mean come on, can we at least have the old loading screens updated to 16:9? The black bars are annoying af. But I guess that is a different topic.
You are correct. They then rescue a wounded Nelf and make contact that way.
They did that with cataclysm and got bad feedback ! I never played vanilla I started in MoP so when people say old tirisfal glades was amazing I really wish i tried it
So with the allied race topic here is the main thing
You follow their story for example with Suramar we aided the rebels we raided the Nighthold we freed the Nightbone from their addiction in the form of the fruit.
We got their backstory their trust , then the faction they chose gets a whole recruitment scenario and now they start in Orgrimmar greeting the Warchief and aiding the Horde, and their main hub is their zone like a small part of the Nighthold is now for the horde
So with the war brewing we need more allies which is why we are recruiting
Allied Race = Running with Friends and everyone is a winner!
Bad jokes aside. The Vulpera skeleton is just a shrunk down version of the Goblin one by the looks of that image. Mechagnomes look as if they have minor changes to the gnome frame but still largely use that frame too.
I don’t know, i don’t think honestly that a brand new race must necessarly mean “more developement”, Zandalari and Kul’Tirans seems ok for me (even if i don’t like the Kul’Tirans, i can see the work behind them), and still are Allied Races.
The only AR that seems low developed to me are the Nightbornes…they are completely different from what we’ve seen on Suramar, the guards have more elegant facial traits and they are bulkier / muscolar than what Blizzard delivered to us with the playable Nightborne.
They really feel rushed to me, and i can understand that the guard model is not supposed to replicate every skill in the game, but instead of working on their model, they chose to work on the Night Elf one.
P.S. And to be honest, they could have just made the first Nightborne model able to replicate any skill and spell, because, let’s be clear here: when Legion got released, Blizzard already knows that they would have delivered us the AR at the end of the expansion / pre-purchase of BfA, so why not working already on the original model i don’t know.
Allied races are just a hoax designed to make people level alts, or pay for race change.
Well, not that you couldn’t do the same with basic races, leveling an alt or race-changing to the brand new one is something that always existed.
I wouldn’t say that’s a hoax, because if you race-change you will not get the heritage armour (yes i understand that not everyone care about it), but it’s indeed a move to keep the players in the game.
Definition: additional money from players to blizzard in order to get achievement, mount, different look.
Allied race is the cool new skins and mounts horde gets while alliance get horse mounts.
Why would you settle with just reskins of old races as allied race (read: sub race)?
Allied race is something that includes the entire concept of subrace, but it also includes, at least in my opinion, ANY race… potentially. We could be asking entirely new playable races!
Why are people asking for simple recolors?
Spoiler: it really wasn’t.
There has been no official definition from Blizzard, but if we look at all the existing Allied Races, they are all linked to one of the standard races. They are just reskins with genetic heritage.
This is why I have said repeatedly that Vulperra (and Sethrak), if they ever were playable, would be Level 1 and have their own starting zone. They are a standard race, not an Allied Race.
"bUt ThEy HaVe A gObLiN mOdEl…"
Yeah. But they are not goblins and are not linked to them.
Moonkin have Ogre models, are they related? Saberon have Worgen models, are they related?
Vulperra by current definitions are not an Allied Race. They are in the same boat as Naga, Ogres, Ethereals, Vrykul ect.
And that’s why I still believe it’s going to be Giblins
Yeah but Blizzard never said that the Allied Races must be a reskin as a general rule, at this point i think that the concept of the Allied Races are some NPCs that already have a major hub / capital city, and then join one faction because they see they have some kind of connection with one of the races (like Nightborne with the BElves and so on), for me that’s no longer a reskin rule.
About the Vulpera, for me is obbious that IF they will become playable, they will join the Horde, but to be honest i don’t see them sharing anything with the Goblins at all but some rigs of their skeleton. Yes Vulperas are scavengers but they don’t live for the moneys, i wouldn’t collocate them with the Goblins, maybe with the Taurens, they are both peacefull most of the time and just want to survive in peace when possible (even if they have already their linked AR, aka the Highmountains), so i’m not really sure wich kind of rule Blizzard setted up for the AR, for me it seems logic what i said above (the capital already here and the link with some races), but at this point who knows
The definition of an allied race?
A reskin of the original races, with a bunch of cosmetic opinions that in no way warranted the creation of an entirely new, separate race, much like giving taurens new horns or turning 20 blood elves void tainted and then pose 20 ppl as a “race”.
