Delete deplete of key

There are too many punishments in World of Warcraft! It is frustrating and they have to stop doing this way.

How is kicking somebody from a m+ key an abuse?

If you never depleate your … say… 9 key… Why would you ever post a 8 key and look for pugs. For example. Or a 5 key. You need depleates to keep people playing across all levels.

What you also need is people trying to upgrade their key back to the level they need it at. And this is what you are refering to as “annoying” and “boring”. And on that you are 100% right.

Here are some suggestions to address your issue, but keeping with Depletes:

  • Give keys charges. You fail 1 or 2 times, you can try again. After the 3rd time its a deplete.
  • Give the possibility to buy key upgrades and specific dungeons with Valorstones and Crests. This currency looses meaning after you are fully geared. And you gotta farm it somewhere (other peoples key).
  • If you time someone else’s key, and he receives an upgrade. So does everyone in the party.

Those are 3 suggestions to make depleting keys a bit less frustrating.

Lets think a bit out of the box then.
What are the prime causes/reasons for those PuG disbands?

Is it just the folly of humanity?
Or the way M+ is designed that makes not making it to the end in time to be something that many people consider a waste of their time? In a way that raids do not?

Personally I would see the entire concept of M+ scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up to have the average payer (<= intentional typo) in mind instead of esporters trying to push the absolute limits of gameplay for MDI.

Or the leaver key gets depleted not the leads. That way the correct person gets punished

Lots of people don’t want depletes at all though.

It’s like a doc selling painkillers instead of just getting rid of the pain forever. Some people prefer to drag out their own suffering but most don’t.

Plus Blizzard have shot themselves in the foot by making Delves which are way easier and give nice loot. I’m doing unholy amounts of Delves even though I liked keys in the past.

(A) Punishing leavers wont change anything.

but most importantly:

(B) Most keys are depleated because of failing mechanics. Not because of Leavers. Leavers are just 1 of the reasons to “not time a key”. Its a minor problem which would be solved by implementing any of the 3 suggestions I proposed.

I dont care what they want if its obvious it will cause problems. I also want a pool in my house but it will cost me a nice bank loan of interest rates… If you get where im going…

For example :

Is this your opinion right? Well Delves are the response from people that say M+ is full of toxic people and dont want to engage with any player and want NPC “everything”. And we got that. Brann the NPC healer.

Classic example of “wanting something” but not thinking exactly the consequences of it.

Good for you. I literally fall asleep in them. This “going 1 mob at a time” situation is boring. And if I wanted to sit in a Delve all day with no timer I would just Raid with my guild. Just the same.

Also for me its like a budjet version of PvP. If I wanted to play Delves style of gameplay I would do arenas. Much more high-octane with the same CCs, dispells, kicks, mobility, ect…

That’s my opinion.

In fact, when I feel like doing a “Delve” I go play Darktide. Same PvE concept, but much more entertaining high-octane action packed… Delves… I fall asleep.

So the choice is between something that makes some people fall asleep and something that causes anxiety attacks to some people.

Blizzard is not one known for finding the middle ground :stuck_out_tongue:

Buy a hot tub. I know a person who has one and it’s pretty great. Although supposedly most people who buy pools hardly ever use them.

It’s common sense. People always take the easy path. You think it’s a coincidence these m+ complaint threads are so abundant right after Blizzard added a sweet new mode that has none of the poverty trap-ish issues m+ has? I don’t.

I’m pulling tons of packs at once. I got jumped by Zekvir then got a juicy Hero staff for my Druid, it’s amazing. They’re as hard as you make them. M+ would also be horrible fighting one mob at a time.

I guess… But no thanks. Shower is fine, and I get to keep the 1000E or so it would cost to install a tub.

I find the “anxiety attacks” some people have in wow absolutely ridiculous. Play Darktide if you want that.

I just cant say anything but the truth. WoW is a “family friendly” game compared to others. And I genuinely dislike pampering to Snowflakes.

Its my opinion. And people might have theirs. I don’t care. But when it forces changes in the game that affect me, I begin to have an issue with that opinion.

That is the thing. Asking for the removal of depletes, LFG automated tool, and punishing leavers will NOT make the path easier. It will make it harder.

And people complain about depletes because of M+ difficulty. Not Delves.

Like I said. If I want to play alone, Darktide’s zombies are more appealing. If I want to play in a group, I refuse to play in a budget version of M+.

But you do you ! Nobody is stopping you from enjoying Delves. Definitely not me since my opinion is irrelevant to your enjoyment of Delves.

As you should.

Worse than League of Legends?

WoW has that weird inconsistency where parts of it are so simple that one would need to be as tech illiterate as my mother (she struggles with the remote control of the TV) to struggle with while also having the rest of the content needing being so steeped in meta gaming that one has to do a job profiling for group members.
One could argue is that this way it has something for everyone, another would argue that it tries to please so many crowds that it pleases none.

Oh for sure. The game deliberately puts monsters and zombies behind you just to mess with you. Like Suicide Bombers or Abominations.

If you are too “slow” to get to objectives, the hordes just get bigger and bigger until it kills you.

And the maps are deliberately made such that you walk into a room and have 150 gunners surrounding you on all sides ALL pointing at the 1 only door you can come in. And then trow in some snipers for the fun of it.

LOVE IT !

I argue the first. And that is the beauty of it.

But you need the humility to acknowledge your own personal limitations. You can play the game with 0 . [#] max efficiency (cause lets be real here, none of us are Method raiders), and achieve XYZ goals. And be happy about it.

Or not, but then you have a goal to work for but you need to have the humility to enjoy the process too.

There are a bunch of average payer (intentional typo) that dont enjoy spending 2h looking at the same exact boss… dying to the exact same thing 2 minutes into the fight for hours upon hours…

And simultaniously dont enjoy to just give a guarantee that you will never wipe and clear the raid in 30 minutes. A bit of challange !

So. Your average player can enjoy a bit of high-octane in a game surrounded by slow and boring modes of play.

Just bring back DF season 3 scaling of M+ and everybody has fun again.

Maybe. Maybe not. It’s better then the lead being the only one that gets punished. And tbh they deserve it. They’ve been screwing people got 6 years. Let’s return the favour

M+ is some of the most successful content blizzard has brought to wow in recent years, what would you do to change it?

Honestly they can keep the scaling as is if they remove the ill considered 15 sec death penalty.

While i agree with it being too punishing, i am not sure the average player is doing +7’s, looking at old percentages of people doing +10’s and percentages of ksm’s.

The current other affix is by the way way more punishing this week. It is really not working in a lot of dungeons with overlaps on burn-phases like NW and Stonevault (shield-boss).

Its not “Maybe yes maybe not”. Its a 100%, guaranteed, definitively YES… that it will create more problems than solutions.

How about you turn it arroud. How about everyone gets rewarded for succeding?

And the +20% damage between 11+ and 12+. Tyranical + Fort is already enough, and M+ has infinite scaling. Flat damage nerfs are totally irrelevant.

I say this because I am not there yet. But I will want to be there. And I have heard that jump in difficulty is even worse than a +7 jump.

This is valuable insight into the M+ design’s history.

The system has outlived key level reduction on failure.
Key reduction on failure is having a negative impact on the overall functionality of the system and customer enjoyment.
The negative impact is largely related to player behaviour and leaving groups.

While it would be preferable to be able to have nice players who are team oriented, that is not the case.

Blizzard must design the game for the enoyment of the customers they have right now, not for the players they wish they had.

At the same time, there is nothing stopping Blizzard from introducing a system that informs other players how many times did this particular character was the first to leave a Key run which timer has not depleted yet - of course, start counting from the moment it is implemented to give everyone a clean slate.

Making such information available to players while forming groups would go a long way to enforcw behaviour change.l without punishing anyone by Blizzard - the punishment would come from the community in the form of ostracism.

TL;DR

  1. Remove key level loss - it’s archaic and it hurts player experience.

  2. Make information about players how many times did they leave during a key run before its timer depleted accessible - that way you can enforce behaviour change without punishing such players directly - leave it to the community.
