I’m not sure why you advocating for people charging for addons.
All the addons I use in game are free. They are used by millions of players.
I’m not trying to accuse anyone of anything. i just want to hear your thoughts on it.
A team doesn’t usually spend this much time creating a huge, polished and feature-rich addon purely for our convenience. There has to be some kind of goal behind it, and I’m curious what that goal might be.
For example, ElvUI has its own updater/client where they put advertisement. It makes updating much easier, whereas without it you’d have to manually download the addon from their website and put the files into your WoW folder.
I understand when one person makes a small addon as a hobby and hopes to get some donations for their work. But when you have a whole team creating something this big and polished, I find it hard to believe that it’s all being done purely for us, for players.
So I’m not saying there’s definitely something shady going on. I’m simply asking: what’s the actual goal here, and how could something like this be monetized?
I’d genuinely like to hear what you guys think.

I guess I just don’t understand your approach, we have many addons that those writers spend hours and hours on and they are all free.
Addons have to have a free version available to all. They can’t charge for the base addon.
