After a wonderful season 4 during which we had a wonderful opportunity to alt, we return to old problems - Valor Cap. While up to the conquest of the World First Mythic I am to some extent understand it, after that it should be removed. Why? Because in relation to PvP players, valors limit too much the development of equipment through points. Really 750 valors per week, while one upgrade from 250 to 1000. And we have 13 levels of upgrades. And I know no normal person would upgrade an item from rank 1 to max rank. But even if we want to upgrade one item from rank 10 (M+15) to 13 we have to spend from 1000 to even 4000 valors (which means from 2week to even 6 weeks for ONE item. While PvP players in their content have the maximum ilvl right away, and upgrades only matter cosmetically and world pvp (in addition, the cost needed for the upgrade is not limited - honor).
And preempting the “PvE players have raids” comments - not every M+ player raids and not every raider player plays M+ (even though it would seem logical to combine these things).
There will also be comments: you can do infinite M+ - of course you can. We also have the infinite luck of having an RNG in the game that makes us have to do one dungeon dozens of times for specific items (see my 20 and 30 runs in Mechagon for rings). So a specific reward equals a lot of effort anyway.
After getting World First Mythic, in my opinion, the cap should be removed completely, or its amount raised 4 times so that you can upgrade that 1-2 items per week from high rank to maximum rank.
I don’t tbh. There are just a few guilds who are racing to WF mythic, and it’s abit moronic to tailor the game for them if you ask me.
I will tell you this - I am able to understand that this is a kind of tradition that should remain. I am able to wait these ~2 weeks for changes - but let them happen.
I actually agree, valor cap makes no sense. Most people use it on items from +15s anyways, or the vault, but just let them go, that 750 per week is nonsense. Season 4 was actually fun when the valor cap was removed. People play, and get rewarded even if nothing valuable drops, what’s the problem???
Ahh well, guess I just do the same as BFA and SL where I just quit the game until the final season and play the game when its finally fun and not stupidly time gated.
On WoWHead, people also point out an important point that I forgot to write about - having good equipment people are more likely to take people with slightly worse. People with better equipment also have a purpose in joining lower keys (thus, those much weaker players also get help progress, they can get items). When content is time-gated people take META specs, people with best gear, best rating. People who don’t have as much time, or started later are left behind, and few people have any interest in helping them at all. This creates huge inequalities in the game. Season 4 eliminated some of that.
People wanted fully geared players to be able to blast through low keys in order to get their valor points quickly. They also wanted meta specs for 15s, even though they had 290+ gear and would be able to complete them easily enough, even with balance druids or mistweaver monks. There were undreds of threads last season of 2k2+ ret pala (or any meta specs, really) that couldn’t get into keys (or were having a way harder time than others)
Truth is, people will arguably mostly choose meta specs and well geared characters anyways. I feel that it won’t change, no matter how gearing works.
That said, I’m not really and advocate for either capped or uncapped valor. I can see the good in both world, but also the bad.
I also understand your frustration. Maybe they will increase the cap at some point ? In the meantime, we all have the opportunity to try to push anyways.
Not being to blast through “high keys” because we grinded a lot of 2 to 5 is not really a bad thing (imho). We’ll have time to get better at the dungeons and actually understand mechanics.
People wanted fully geared players to be able to blast
I have a different experience. Joining +15 groups by myself having BIS, I often saw people with inferior equipment. When doing groups myself, I also sometimes took 1 weaker person, because I knew that with my equipment I would be able to do the DPS for myself and for that person (even if they didn’t do anything) and it would still be a key done in time.
In the higher keys, indeed, META unfortunately dominated and this is where this problem started to get worse. But if not being a META what else can I convince others with if not good equipment? And the freedom to upgrade it allows me to do so. I take my time → get better ones.
I wish there were more players like you. That was obviously not the case, according to both players I’ve interracted with and posters on the forums. Maybe my views and interractions were biased, idk.
When it comes to my experience (probably irrelevant), it was harder for me to find groups as a holy pala than as a survival hunter. There could be tons of reasons to that. But I can’t exactly exclude META and the will of players to only play as the big teams do. It’s nonetheless intriguing that a healer would spend more time than to find a group than a DPS. I have to say though, that I’d mostly play in guild so my PUGs experience is not very advanced and relevant.
That’s a valid point. That’s also why I wouldn’t mind uncapped or a different one at least.
It’d be better if specs were balanced, of course. But you know as I do that it’s likely not happening ^^
nothing would make me happier than be forced to grind out 100 dungeons for maxed valor gear week 1 / week 2 just to get into weekly vault keys because some nolifers would do it
valor cap is understandable timegate but 750 per week when +3 to weapon costs 1000
its a nonsense. need at least 2000 per a week with lower prices to upgrade low ilvl item for new players to catch up
Either remove the VP cap or remove the rating. Rating especially as it is no longer account wide. You should not be stopped from gearing by two obstacles per character.
