“Our goal is to match the difficulty of solo and group play as much as possible in Delves. When looking at data on group delves, we noticed unexpectedly low combat times coupled with unexpectedly high lethality. We identified the root cause of this issue and corrected it. This fix will increase the health scaling of enemies per additional player present, but we are also reducing the damage scaling of many abilities to compensate.”
Translated into:
"We don’t really play our own game, so we don’t really know from a proper playing experience. So we’re going to screw over the fun, because we detected it. This overall will make it impossible for the vast majority of you to play the delves now.
We will of course revert this change, once we finally look at the forums and see how much almost all of you hate this change. We don’t really apologise, but we will revert the change because we don’t like mean things being said about us on social media."
I personally don’t care about the nerf or buff to overall mob damage. But it is a bit of a silly move by developers at the end of the day.
It’s a kneejerk fix to a problem that should have never happened in the first place.
If the tuning was achingly hard for all group sizes from the start it would have been better since Blizz could have said “max rewards in week one was never meant to be easy” but they’ve kinda screwed it now and somehow made a bad situation worse.
Finally, it actively discourages 5 person parties. One wipe and you’re done unless the rest of the run is flawless.
I honestly enjoyed the solo version much more, even before this hotfix
so personally i’m not affected.
i think they should’ve just kept everything the way it was
and added more rewards to solo delves
Extra achievements in solo play, mounts, titles etc…
gear going down in quality with larger group sizes
stuff like that
they could’ve easily advertised delves as a ‘solo challenge’ without the possibility of grouping up (we have dungeons for that)
spared themselves the tuning headache
and no one would’ve complained
this was done before with Mage Tower, i don’t recall anyone complained about it being a solo challenge, in fact people asked for more of it.
I did the same delve on an 8 as solo and as 3 people. The difference in difficulty was absurd. The mobs barely gained any strength and what was a slog became a breeze.
Why are we beta testing delves anyway? I don’t understand how an expansion can have so many glaring issues out the gate.
Honestly was having a lot of fun doing delves with a buddy before today. Now we’re both a hinderance because mobs gain 5x the health and damage. Mobs meleeing a geared tank for 6m. Web bolts picking off DPS whose interrupt CD is way too long to deal with them.
If this is the intended way for delves to work, kindly never bother making them again.
Agreed. Yesterday I was like “yeah this is kinda fun and I don’t mind doing this couple times a week”, today I joined multiple 590+ groups and it was huge wipefest with every of them, wasted like 3 hours for no reward. Especially the new Zekvir mobs who cast one wipe spell after another. Tried it solo and was not fun either. Going to stick with M+ from next week and leave this garbage content behind.
still this is not single player game … and you should not have same item level gear to people u are playing in group if u are playing solo , or even worse that best gear is dropping from solo content
I agree with you Blizzard should remove the ability for people to do them in a group. This will solve 90 % of current issues and they will be able to focus on tunning delves for builds/classes.
unironicaly i got exact last 2 items i needed from m0 from the dvelves i did today so now im gucci with everything till next reset
at 601 im more then reasy for m0 and never going dvelves again untill they literaly nerf them all into ground
solo is indeed much easier then in group - for example in solo earth mine the big scarab didnt spawn at all. and i just nuked venomspite down before he casted 2nd cast
