This doesn’t feel quite right - especially as the tooltip for revives literally says “releasing spirit”.
Isn’t it a class mechanism?
Be curious to see if it ignores reincarnation for Shaman.
Or whether the tooltip is just incorrect.

Its how they are set up. Same is with resses after fight is done.
Enjoy it now untill Blizzard hitfixes it
What do you mean enjoy it - when it is clearly something that is not right or correctly aligned with what the tooltip says.
It sounds like you’re playing semantics. Don’t die more times than are on the counter. Having infinite tries because you can soulstone doesn’t sound right does it?
I’m not playing semantics at all.
If it is designed to disregard soulstones and reincarnation that is fine. In which case the tooltip should probably state “without dying” rather than the current “releasing spirit”.
Details are important.
well in m+ death counter has skulls - here you have life counter.
which can suggest life as in release
it could also be mainly targeted at solo play in there
who knows we will see it blizzard hotflixes it tomorrow as "no release wait for ress " is main strategy of luiteraly all groups in there atm
So they have now hotfixed it so that any death counts - which is what I was noticing anyway when I created the post.
I was using a soulstone, and having it consume one of the revives - when I created this post. So it looks like it was indeed the intended behaviour. But at least now the tooltip has been updated to remove the ambiguity.
