I was having fun, but then I came back to one when close to level 80 and brann kept dying to the last boss in the fungal delve. Be interesting to see what the higher tiers would be like, maybe I was missing something but he really screwed me over lol
Personally, I think they’re overall well done and here’s why;
You don’t want a dungeon/torghast like sprawling labyrinth that people will get lost in and spend an hour to complete and then at some point get stuck and be unable to complete the thing due to difficulty
It needs to be time-efficient for it to be casual/popular. While they can make other content longer, this is meant to be something light and is understandable to the less experienced player base but also a scalable in difficulty
Delves are much different from one to the other, some have more annoying mechanics, others are fairly straight-forward. I played about 6 different ones and they were all different to some extent
If you’re a PvPer, you’re used to a lot more going on than what the vast majority of PvE content provides. Anything PvE to me feels casual to an extent and repetitive, with baked in, predictable mechanics and raids/dungeons are essentially the same exact place literally every run (that I’ve experienced), so you’ve lost me there
Anyway, as someone who is also a PvPer and mostly enjoys these single-player aspects, it’s a really big win for me, so far. However, the tuning may be off as they were all quite easy on Tier 3.
Yeah I definitely dislike some of the mechanics they use. But thankfully there’s quite a selection of delves to choose from, so you can skip what you don’t like.
Oh hi fake Tah. Haven’t seen you in a while.
No expansion huh? Not very Tah-like.
I am actually of the exact opposite mind. I agree the tuning is off, but rather to the other side. When I did tier 3 when I had exactly the required ilvl, they took ages to finish; it wasn’t difficult perse, but the mobs just went down soooo sloooow which made it tedious.
Now that I overgear tier 3 it feels in a better place; so yeah, it needs tuning for sure, but not the one you’re suggesting, imo.
I think they are mediocre.
Some are fun, some are okay and others are damn right annoying/bad.
I do think the XP you get is rather low and the mobs are way more spongey than open world. Which result in worse XP than just questing.
The treasures inside are a bit baffling, once you got them that’s it… I would’ve thought they’d also do random chests and rares. They are in the open world so its baffling they didn’t add that element to delves (those that give crafting resources and what not).
The powers, I thought there would be more, so far I’ve only seen 3 or 4 different ones and I did a decent amount of delves.
So yeah, this had potential but its not as good as I thought it would be.
I totally agree with the OP. Delves are the biggest expansion flop for me so far. Feel like torghast repackaged, equally boring and annoying at the same time. I also wonder how come noone noticed this before release, delves have been so hyped it is difficult to imagine someone actually tried them.
They are far too focused on combat imo, feels like all you do is kill mobs, till you reach boss, then kill boss. I expected far more exploration and puzzles and maybe some platforming and whatever, just a lot more non-combat gameplay. I get that combat is signifigant a part of PvE content, but in delves its ALL there is. I have yet to see a Delve that didnt have a damage sponge boss at the end.
I also expected them to be more randomized. Every run is pretty much the same with slight variations, like a different rare spawn. The primary enemies and objectives are the same every time.
Delves were supposed to be their own thing, but as of now they are just soloable dungeons.
This is exactly what I don’t want. For two reasons:
I’ve never enjoyed that particular mechanic. I play my class/spec because that’s what I enjoy. I don’t want weird random powers that thematically don’t fit my character.
But also because it just reminds me of Torghast and that will forever leave a foul taste in my mouth.
So be it, but I simply do not want to go melee and I completely, utterly despise how MM plays.
I’ll just hold out for a fix. Not much to do the coming weeks anyway.
If anything; this experience will make me ‘battle-hardened’ and stuff will feel like a breeze when it gets fixed.
