So, I read more about delves, about their loot mechanics.
Is it true that you need a key to actually get gear from delves?
Keys that come from world quests and other world activities?
If that is the case, then Delve-s are messed up big time.
There is a content to play with buds and something different than mythic dungeons, but a-a, you gotta get a key to actually get rewards!
I hope there is something I’m missing about this, because if not, then this content is trashcan content.
Well in a bountifull delv at the end of it there is a locked chesr yes u need a key to open that one will give u a higher ilvl piece of gear. The keys u get it from doing outdoor content like world qeusts yes.
Well, yes.
But based on the description, without the key, the max item lvl is 533…
Therefore doing delves makes no sense without a key…?
It is a real shame. I was looking forward to delves as an alternative to play instead of mythic dungeons, getting high end gear by just playing solo or a small group of friends content.
And instead we get an occasional content, connected to if you play open world activities and if you get a key from those.
Guess I should not be surprised at that Blizzard just ruined it, of course.
It would have been too nice to have a new content that you can enjoy instead of mythic dungeons.
Guess nothing will change, raids and mythic as usual.
Delves are useless that way.
Let’s re-phrase this: You get 4 guaranteed items every week. That means 4 runs.
There are 2 loot drops for each M+ run, for 5 people. That means, in order to get the same amount of gear, you will have to do 10 runs.
Sure, you cannot grind infinitely and you must do some wq and activities to get the keys, but even with those, plus 4 delves, you are far FAR more time efficient than running 10 M+.
(Different numbers for M0, especially on dungeon weeks)
There are 4 drops from delves with keys?
That is new information I did not know about. And it is at least 100% drop once you have the key I assume?
I do not exactly know the drop rate from Mythic dungeons, how much items you could get from 10 runs. In theory you could get 4 from 4 runs, and 10 from 10. Or even 0 from 5?
The only thing currently I see delves as something need to be look for is the fact it has its own vault slot.
Is there any information about how quick is it to get those keys? If they drop quite frequently then they might be not that bad…
At least by your words, it looks that way.
In TWW, you get weekly chests from outdoor activities. The text reads: 1 guaranteed equipment (Adventure 1/8 only) from the first two you open. That means two pieces of gear total per week.
It also reads 1 guaranteed key from first 4 you open. That means 4 keys per week.
It is 100% for the play that spends their key on a bountiful chest at the end of the delve.
It used to depend on if you time it or not. Now M+ drops always 2 items at the end. One for two lucky players out of the 5.
However, M0 operates like a regular dungeon, so one item per boss, after defeating a boss. Also, on dungeon weeks, the last boss drops another item as bonus.
So a regular 4 boss dungeon on M0 drops 4 items total, 5 on dungeon weeks.
In each zone, you have to do 3 wq, then another wq with elites. I did all 4 under an hour on my fresh tank.
There are some weeklies too and in main hub you can chose from 4 activities to get another quickly. All in all, very fast to get 4 chests. I think you can get maybe total 7-8 a week.
Thanks for those answers, they are quite useful and informative.
While I’m not quite happy with how delves work (as it is not a replacement of mythic dungeons that I originally thought), they might still provide to be useful, given keys are not that difficult to obtain.
You get 4-5 keys a week. 4 from doing any 4 of the 7 weekly activities that award them, and 1~ from doing world quests that award 25 key fragments each.
Because we had a long pre season, you can save a LOT of keys before the higher level delves open. I’m projected to have 23-24 keys on September 11th.
Each key gives guaranteed loot as was mentioned earlier, and delves scale in ilvl up to the same as roughly M+ 5s, in terms of both end of run loot and vault progress.
