Delves - Could anyone explain to me?

In a Delve can you enter Solo (or in a small group) without having to have a companion i.e. is Brann Bronzebeard mandatory, even if I don’t want to level him up?

Yes, we cannot get rid of him. Kind of a vibe-killer for me but as long as he does not spam his voicelines too much I can probably handle it.

On paper Brann is a good idea IMO.

Not all classes are made equal when it comes to Solo content. Some have distinct advantages. Like having a pet that can tank, plate armor, or self healing.

So in order to offer a good experience to everyone, instead of balancing all specs for Solo content (which would be a nightmare) Blizz only has to buff/nerf Brann. Which is way easier to do.

Yep, only right now he lacks the ability to tank, which makes me feel the real (or initial) reason he is coming with us is because of the various activities we discover and solve in the delves, and he provides the background story or instructions to them.

Right now some specs are heavily hampered there, e.g holy priests, so perhaps making him able to be a tank for some specs could be something they need to do.

Heals aren’t good at progressing solo content? No way

I got that vibe too. Brann seemed like a tutorial on legs when I briefly played around with Delves. I did laugh when he stood in a frontal cone effect and “died”.

With Brann I don’t mind having him along; I like the character.
But in future seasons there will be other npcs joining us; I might dislike some of them, so overal I think the system could do with a CHOICE.

Being able to pick who you want to go in with you (or even if you don’t want any npc to go in with you), should be possible imo. Maybe in the second iteration of the delves system (in Midnight), they’ll make it like that. Hopefully.

That would be great!
