Delves in The War Within

Good morning Ladies and Gentelmans. I was thinking to write this for weeks now, and i finaly decided ill go for it.

So i would like to talk about delves - something short  I would like to express my personal oppinion about delves. I know many will agree with me but there will also be many who wont, but i would still like to tell you all that i love DELVES <3 . I been playing WoW long time (20 years to be exact) and i have never had so much fun doing solo content like i do when i play Delves. Its been almost year that TWW is out and i still do my delves on daily basis and i still enjoy them. Delves are refreshement WoW needed to be more appealing for many of us. For example when Torghast came out in Shadowlands i thought it will be appealing as much as Delves are now, but no, Torghast was boring, and generic (withe same assets and mobs more or less) and i got bored of it pretty fast. I m a big fan of WoW, and many things Blizzard does to game amaze me, but some content like Torghast completly dissapointed me.

But to no avail, at the mmoment i enjoy playing WoW. Tww is amazing for solo players (dont get me wrong, i love multiplayer content too - i do raid and m+ on daily basis too). As long as we get content like Delves i m happy and <3.

So i decided to make this post to point out that i wish and hope Delves are going with us to the next few Expansions. I know you guys can figure out some more tweaks to even improve and make Delves even better (even tho to my oppinion the S2 delves up to till tier 11 are all amzing and greatly balanced).

Thats all i wanted to say. I wish everyone a great Weekend, have fun and sty cool :sunny:

I do believe that delves are evergreen

Well, I also hope they’ll stay, BUT they need work imo.
I’m sick and tired of the ‘underground’, ‘dark confined space’ and ‘sewer’ type aesthetic of delves. I want open spaces; they’ve made dungeons that are set outside, so it’s perfectly possible.

That’s my main gripe with delves at the moment.

My second issue is that it feels to me they’re starting to add stuff now that’s going to pull delves closer to ‘the M+ experience’ and I really, really, really don’t like that. I don’t want affixes.

I’m not a fan of delves, because they are not world content. But it’s the best I can get, so they’ll have to do. That’s how I feel about them.

Tah my friend what is it with you and not liking options.

These new overloaded delvs or whatever they are called are not taking away from the Delvs you already enjoy they are an addition

i hate that gosh darn* bubble delve… until after 3 or so of them i realised there was a button to put a bubble on me xD

Im really enjoying delves right now(apart from a couple of them), to the point where I’ve ditched M+ completely. Currently levelling my ret paladin alt more or less through tnem exclusively.

@Tah - you made some good points, but the idea of delves is for them to be underground, I’m not sure how an overground delve would work.

my thoughts exactly

I disagree. They are taking away because Blizzard will gate stuff behind it. And, like I said, it’ll take delves in general one step closer to being more M+ esque, which I really don’t want.

I am scared about what it could mean for the future of delves. And since it’s my only viable endgame option, I feel I am perfectly within my rights to share those fears.

And just to be clear: I don’t really enjoy delves. They’re just ‘the lesser of all the evils’. What I truly want is ACTUAL world content as endgame content. Not ‘mini dungeons’. Who knows; with their recently shared idea for ‘open world modes’ for Legion Remix, maybe that’s them testing something like that for retail; which could be what I want: Actual world content endgame progression.

I mean yes ofcourse there will be stuff gated behind it just like with every harder difficulty.

If we are honest no one does harder stuff cause they want the challenge. Those people are rare most people do harder stuff cause there is better loot or mog or mounts behind it.
And I think delvs also deserv harder content for those that want more challenges with more loot.

And I think and hope you are right with the legion remix stuff.
That is probably a test to see how good people react to it.
I’d be down for openworld stuff

How do overground dungeons work?

Good point - never did like the overground dungeons, they are supposed to be underground as the word suggests. Same with delves

I didn’t do that one until I was already +8 in delves so I just followed what other people did and took the bubble

Yep, that makes sense. But we did change to calling them “instances” at some point, I think that happened during WotLK when we were receiving the error “You cannot enter any more instances at this point, please wait a moment” or something like that.

We have had “open” dungeons since Vanilla, Zul’Farrak being the one that comes to mind first.
