Group play completely trivializes the goal of delves and that is to provide end-game content for solo players. I believe there is already enough content for group play in the game and delves should have never been made available to groups of 2 or more players.
Before someone asks how it affects me and that everyone can do it solo if they want. Well it fully trivializes one full end-game system that gives HC/M+ tier of loot. Go figure…
The only real solution is to disable group play, not to nerf loot, buff group scaling etc.
Just coming with my personal take on this.
Delves is not end game content, it will never be. For now it is a solid way to gear your characters as to progress to your endgame destination. For me it works as a way to gear for m+ which is group content, and thats the whole game. Wow is endgame group content, there is so fun activity you can do solo, sure some people grind gold etc. but in the end, it is all group content with friends.
Delves are end game content. They are even evergreen feature from now on having full great vault row.
Currently they provide M+ loot to ppl who would never be able to complete M3+ to get the same loot, and up to that they are not challenged at all in a group in delve.
This system is broken at the moment and the only real solution is to prevent groups from entering it. You want to play with others and get Champion end of run loot and Hero track loot in your vault? Go Mythic plus or HC raid…
Delves are ok difficulty and loot quality wise for solo player atm (though I agree some minor tuning is ofc needed) and this aspect of delves should no way be touched or changed for the solo player by trying to solve the issue. Tackling the issue has to hit the group play hard, preferably by disabling it completely, as I do not believe this can ever be tuned properly and comparably for both - solo and group.
We are talking about systems affecting the vast majority of players, for M+ high level key pushers and Mythic raiders I understand it is completely irrelevant. But those are 0.01 % of the player base…
In that case the loot quality and occurence has to go down significantly to be in line with other content and time and skill invested, thus rendering delves completely obsolete not only for groups, but first of all for the solo player. We will end up with another LFG Queue HC Dungeon content - loot quality wise and yes, it will be another chill content… But does the game really need it? I think not…
And all this for just one reason - to catter to group play that already has tons of content and just screw the solo players again leaving them with nothing in hand. In the end the PvP row in GV can return too, would be a complete waste to have it for delves. Just use the Dungeon row and score it the same way as a HC dungeon completed.
Because if you want to preserve the group accesibility, it simply has to, at the moment it devaulates gear from all the other content.
That is why I say the only solution is to keep it the way it is, provide minor tuning and disable group play.
Even if you lower the difficulty for solo player singificantly and keep the group play as it is, you simply have to touch the loot to protect the other content. And by touching the loot the magic formula of “end game content for solo player” is definitely ruined and turned into dust.
At the moment all solo players no matter the class are already in a huge disadvantage compared to any group. In a content that is advertised as solo end game content since TWW announcement…
The only real solution and I will repeat myself:
disable group play in delves
then start with tunning the things properly for solo play
These replayable, seasonal, role-agnostic adventure experiences offer a new way to enjoy the leveling and endgame progression alongside traditional Dungeons, Raids, and PvP.
Notice the word “ENDGAME”.
Also point me to a single player game that is similar to wow, i’m waiting.
In that case they will make the loot from delves less attractive sooner or later, simply because it provides significantly better and / or easier to get loot than other content at the moment.
In the end delves will be just another HC dungeon because in a group it is exactly this even on high tier. But it is ok, if people really want that.
That’s fine with me and I think with most people as well. Having more options to get loot for the vault is fine, but when people complain about enabled nerd voice“oh hey guys, delves should be solo only because groups ruin it for people who want to enjoy it solo!”
You have to see how silly that argument is. Solo players have content, and now they complain because groups can also do it as well.
Just like people who whine about their classes getting a bit of power here and there, will still complain that they never got more.
People since Wrath of The Lich King have been given “easier” ways of obtaining higher end gear. This is because people complained that they never had enough time compared to hardcore raiders to get the best gear possible. So Blizzard introduced the welfare epic system.
Over time things became easier for people to get good gear, but still not the best that there is available because if you want the best stuff, you have to put the time & effort into obtaining it.
As it stands right now, TWW has pretty much the easiest system in WoW to get gear as easy as possible. So just sit back and enjoy it!
“Endgame progression” is not the same as “The endgame”
You’re being given an option to assist in getting you to the endgame of the WOW content (M+ and Heroic & above raiding).
