Derek Proudmoore new model makes NO sense. Blizzard HATES Forsaken models?

New PTR build shows us the new model for Derek Proudmoore and there’s some alarming issues I’ve found with it: https://www.wowhead.com/news=290117/derek-proudmoore-gets-a-unique-model-in-patch-8-1-5

  • Derek Proudmoore was consumed in fire, he even mentions as much when being raised. However there is not a scratch on him, not a single burn injury. Surely if he was set ablaze with intense dragons fire he should be nothing but scorched black?

  • Derek Proudmoore died at sea, his body rested deep below the ocean for over twenty years. A body decomposes at the bottom of the sea in a matter of days, weeks even. At least with the previous Forsaken model you get it’s a rotten corpse, but this new model appears to be fresh (as fresh as dead can be). How has Derek Proudmoore stayed so pristine underwater for so long without looking like a skeleton? Because that’s how he - should - look right now, Derek Proudmoore should be using a skeleton model.

This leads us to another problem. Does Blizzard hate the Forsaken model? It seems all significant Forsaken characters are being replaced by ‘prettier’ undead human skins, why is that? Nathanos had two human updates made to himself, now Derek is getting that treatment, who is next? It seems the trend in the future will be each time the Forsaken are introduced to a new character for their race they will then get a ‘pretty update’ making them a human, or an elf.

What are your thoughts?

For some strange reason, Blizzard really hate drawing the Forsaken model as it appears in game.

This is the concept art for the Darkshore warfront - note how the Forsaken has his elbows and knees covered.

Hopefully we’ll get more options for the Forsaken in the future.

But I am not trolling, no have some Discord server to troll with. Altho’ I would love to have one. Do you have any ideas where I can find one?

Edit :

Ahhhh, good. Already got flagged twice now by the system with the mass report spam you guys have done. You do me proud, glad to be banned by such worthy-ness bows. Also my edits seem to be bugging out, that sucks.

edit: Why, yes, Forsaken characters should use Forsaken models.

When I am Warchief, I shall remove the Forsaken from the Horde. Their crimes are many, and they have escaped sufficient consequence for Tirisfal and Gilneas.

By the way, just off topic here.

Mass report spamming like you are doing is also a bannable offence. So I’d watch out.

Derek Proudmoore deserves a little love after what the Horde put him through. A new updated model indicates future key story plans for him. I suppose an updated model for Baine would not hurt…

I for one think it makes sense, for the Forsaken to have a mroe humanlike option… they used to be humans after all.(the playable ones)

An example would be that you no longer have to see the spine of your character through plate armor and cape, for example.

If you want to play as a more human-looking character, the Alliance is there waiting for you .

To me it seems good?

I think the primary purpose behind his model is to make him identifiable. It’s always Gameplay First. This model accomplishes that. You can put it into any gameplay scenario and he’ll be easily identifiable as “Oh yeah, that’s the guy I fished up from the depths of the ocean a while ago!”

Not everyone has played the past games or read all the novels, so it’s arguably more important that he looks like he’s been in the ocean for long, as opposed to having been burned by fire.

Lore-wise I think it’s normal to immediately point out that he should have burn marks from the fire, and his body should be decomposed because it’s been in the water for so long, if his model was to be a proper representation of him.

But…

It’s red dragon fire. And we know from Bolvar that those flames aren’t entirely normal. Blizzard buys themselves some creative room to operate with there, I think, because it’s a fantasy world, and they decide what red dragon flames do and don’t.

It’s a little bit of a cop-out maybe, but if you want to reason the lore behind the model, I think the key thing to latch onto is the fact that it’s red dragon flames.

Yeah, it’s pretty weird that he gets a new body. Btw. why are you guys need to come as a group to this forum and report for lols?

I doubt they hate it. It is just that major characters tend to get unique models. The undead can come in many different shapes and sizes, as described in Before the Storm. Some are really rotten, and some looks very much like they did when alive. The forsaken model is just a general one.

As for the lore inconsistencies: Derek was described as being reduced to Ash, so him even being present is a contradiction. Blizzard decided to bring him back in spite of the lore. It could be explained away by saying Daelin simply mistook what he saw.

I don’t see the problem?

Derek Proudmoore is an Alliance-hero now, so its obvious he should look more Human-like.

Now it would’ve been weird if they gave Zellig a new, human-like, model. But they killed him off without any reason, so there is that.

As for the problems with his body laying on the ocean-floor after he’d been incinerated by Dragonfire… But its Blizzard so I wouldn’t overthink it, to be fair… They just retconned normal natural processess… :frowning:
