Destro or affliction for battlegrounds

Hi guys, Im usually battleground player and hate arenas since WOTLK, so which spec is better now in prepatch? What is more fluid to play? Damage and stay alive wise also?

Necro destro has crazy one shot potential with incinerate. Can get to 60k+. It’s fun for sniping people 100-0 in 1-2 hits

But Affliction does OP dmg and really high survivability right now. You can play necro affliction with drain soul for one shot potential (you’ll get ticks on drain soul for 25-45k with nightfall procs). Or you can play NF and short soul rot for crazy survivability and mega aoe drains. Personally I think affliction is a top 1-2 spec right now

Affliction does good dmg and is a tank.
Destro is gimpy and fun because 80k+ incinerates.

All of the above fun stuff will be gone in DF. Because the covenant stuff and legendaries are disabled then.

Ok thanks guys.

all that also only applies if you run around in duelist gear of course.
In honor gear you will just die within seconds and do potato dmg =)

With what?

with absolutely every single spec in the game.

Warlock in general still feels better in terms of not dying within a micro second due to over tuned defensives, but you will still do no dmg.

My poor destro lock in 270 ilvl gear manages to lop out 8k chaosbolts on 130k hp target lul

The survivability isn’t overtuned. Don’t forget that warlocks can’t run behind a pillar and heal themselves.

We just can tank the dmg we get to win. We are not mobile, we need to stand to deal dmg. Also having a lot of cast time. This survivability is fair, only thing they should change is the cdr Talent for DP maybe a little downside for it. Like the shield value is 10-15% less than without it.

How is destro compared to affliction gameplay wise? Faster, slower?

Faster, destruction is about big hits with spells, while Affliction is a rot spec.

I played a mage, fire and frost mostly at 3.3.5 for years but I didn’t choose it here cuz I hear frost and mages in general are in really bad state right now. Dunno if its true. Maybe I will try with destro and see if its fun. Thanks.

Your welcome, i don’t like destruction. Since mop i play demo, i think it is something between Affliction and destruction.

I guess I played too much of WOTLK private and for me Demo = early pve ^^

WotlK is totally different, summoner style is a bid worse than Metamorphosis Style.

But somehow I’m getting into point that I like that spec.

not entirely true.
warlocks have good mobility and also dont need to run behind a pillar but can teleport.
considering the amount of heal they do with healthstone and drain, they seem to heal more than hybrids now.

the biggest downside of locks mobility is that you have to set it up and stay in range which makes it very strong in arena and near useless in bgs. one of the reasons i hate playing lock.
this makes the def cds in bgs reasonable and probably quite op in arena. well stupid design.
just let you randomly port at least if you didnt set or are in range of the port

Only affliction had that option.

Depends on the enemy, if he keeps running away in the direction you didn’t set up the gateway. The warlock is the victim.

The mobility is compared to other classes one the worst in game. Every melee keeps up with the warlock.

destro is more the nuke spec aff on the other hand is great in dotting up groups and not so in one to one combat it all comes to what you like the most group combat vs one to one.

technically no.
Well inevitable demise certainly buffs it over the top but you could also run drain life talents on the other 2 specs and even take the pvp talent.
It is just less effective because you are losing all the pressure.

Depending on the setup.
In 3s with another caster it is very dangerous to waste all mobility to catch the lock that flys over the map from one side to the other.
Also enhance and ret cannot keep up.

often hit and miss but a good warlock is hard to catch that set up his ports. and they also have a 70% slow :x

As I said only affliction is using the stain Life build, it is totally useless for destruction and Demo.

That’s the main issue of pvp balance in wow, blizzard anyways balance around certain setups. I think this will change, depends on how impactful Solo Shuffle will be.

Hard to catch depends on the setup. The slow is 50% and you need amplifying curse to get 70% every 30 seconds. If you even spend 2 points in AC you have it every 20 seconds, I’m not using it. Maybe for demo it isn’t worth or I will use it depends on how i manage to survive in S1.
