My current main is a prot pally, and I want to get ONE range alt up.
I consider myself a casual player, play mostly solo, I like to “grind”, raise professions, hunt rare mobs, achievements etc but also do Delves and the occasional 5-man pug
I went kind of naturally for a pet class, but also NOT for the pure pet option (not BM/Demonology) so i created a MM Hunt and Dest Lock. Both my ALTs are in their late 60’s now and I realize that I won’t be able to really play both the way I want… So I’m looking for some higher level people’s opinions to help me chose
My - restricted and maybe wrong - pov so far is the gameplays are relatively similar with the hunter being much more mobile but also more squishy and the Warlock hitting harder, being sturdier but lacking mobility.
I have no idea how they will evolve down the line, with hero talents etc ,and which one would suit my playstyle/needs (see above) the best. But I do know I won’t be able to get BOTH maxed out… Help?
I think it’s ultimately going to come down to personal preference but for me, personally, I always end up coming back to my Destruction Warlock and treating my Marksmanship Hunter as a much lower priority. I find Hunter to a lot more ‘clunky’ than my Warlock even if it’s technically more mobile. I also find flinging chaos bolts at enemies to be very satisfying…
Warlock has the benefit of bringing a decent amount of utility to the table, too - healthstones are always appreciated in raids/battlegrounds and a well placed demonic gateway can nullify annoying mechanics. To say nothing of how useful a soulstone can be.
As far as hero talents? Diabolist combined with Destruction works very well in terms of fortifying damage.
My perspective is someone who returned to the game after quite some time away and I consider myself a fairly casual player willing to dabble in every aspect of the game to various degrees. I’d say Destruction is in a pretty good place right now and I’ve been able to make the jump from LFR to normal to Heroic raid progression without feeling useless.
