Basically what it is. Usless spam.
I actually am not sure whch addon it is or where the setting is. I managed years ago to remove it from my resto shaman, but on all my other chars it keeps reporting the interrupts in partychat
It must be dbm or elvui. But good luck finding specific settings in the mess.
Kind of ironic when the addon is considered toxic.
Is not really toxic, is just useless.
Saying “kicked this…” in party literally says nothing more than “i kicked faster than you”.
It does not help other organize kick or avoid multiple kick usage.
Nothing but pure spam.
Same goes per “Avoidable DT” it already happened. If a player is trying to improve they would be checking what they did wrong themselves.
If they dont care, they wont care about someone spamming it either.
So regardless, is useless info that does not help.
Ye i get how IT can be annoying when you fail a lot
That depends where you do those mistakes with calculus - is it during fast test in high School (+11) ? Then sure. Is IT during midterms in university (+20 ) ? Ye then its very bad .
I’ve literally made inventions in discrete calculus and I still think it’s a hard subject. (Full Approximation Scheme using polynomials on many-core architectures like GPU’s)
If I see someone fail at something calculus related I’ll help them, not chide them. Even if it’s taking the derivative of e^x.
That’s what that addon does. It chides - it doesn’t help.
I don’t care. There’s no point having a go.
Have to accept most dungeons are not timed while pushing. People aren’t robots. We make mistakes. Up to the next key.
Calling out people will make them play worse because of added stress. That is proven. And it is also toxic. It can be fair to you. But then it is also fair you will be less successfull in timing keys.
I am not bothered by the kicks one, mine only goes off when I have kicked and it’s just useful when you’ve got a rotation going. Though we also tend to use the WA tracking kicks a lot. If I kick and I’m kicking at the same time as someone else it doesn’t message in chat cos it counts as a miss. If someone said it annoyed them I would turn it off ofc.
EH is just worthless information. Do you think I don’t know if I stood in something, do you think recap magically wont tell me why I died. Does my meter suddenly stop functioning when looking at what is going on.
I’m not a big pusher, so mostly up to +20s and we never use EH. If we wipe on something we will just look into it, usually after the key if it’s not a fast thing to look into. For example on Tyra weeks when we first started doing doing higher VP keys we were dying on an overlap of mechanics and we quickly realised to use a defensive for that. Other times there is nothing we can do. Like it took Blizz to nerf the worm in NL to make Tyra weeks more possible.
Depends on what it is. Tried doing 3 freeholds at 20 yesterday/last night and there were people pulling packs when they were running back after dying at trash before first boss. Like, there’s a pretty wide berth when running back there but people still wiped us because they can’t move their character. Other people obviously left.
I don’t understand how someone makes it to a 20 and then can’t move their character in a way that doesn’t pull like half the area.
And realistically everyone running higher keys has their own addon that announces when they’ve kicked.
But I don’t understand people getting upset at addons spamming the chat, it’s at the bottom of your screen, if you don’t actively look at it, you shouldn’t even notice it.
I’ve seen some pull/CC patterns that can cause these sorts of mistakes. For example there are many tanks that will not know how to tank the mobs straight after the 2nd boss, causing a situation where I’m getting gripped into a rock throw or banana or other AoE melee smash from one of the other mobs.
So in order to avoid dying instantly on landing, I may instinctively blink. Why blink? Because block is on GCD and I might’ve just fired off an Ice Lance, not expecting this to happen. But the chain forces me to look at the mob regardless of my actual camera direction, causing my blink to always blink me to the other side of the mob regardless of how I point my camera, which is not what I expect and I may end up pulling. It’s happened a few times until I worked out what the heck was going on.
Several times I managed to stop the pull by using Greater Invisibility though
/shrug
Could I do better? Certainly. There are lots of things I could do here, most certainly including positioning, but is it reasonable to say “well that’s all the mage’s fault”? I don’t really think so, honestly. This doesn’t happen with every tank and there’s a bloody good reason for that. And when it does happen, can you really blame me for having a moment of total panic?
EDIT: Another great one is the massive pull with squalls on bridges or off to the right after the first bridge. Just literally nowhere to stand - everything is a swirlie. Or I could blink it but there’s a tiny backpack up against the fence in the way which makes me blink forwards 10cm. Before I realise what happened I’m dead.
The amount of deaths I have to blink bugs is unreal, by the way.
This addon is what’s making me auto-ignore people
There’s no pulls or CC patterns that make people pull those packs by mistake.
Like:
Pack in green mark on the right is pulled behind the wall there. Someone stands in aoe and dies. Then when they’re running back, they pull the red marked pack to the left or they pull the red marked patrol.
Same when they die on the other pack in green mark in the boss ring, if people die there they come running back and pull one of the red marked packs.
How they manage that I cannot understand. It’s quite a feat. One person managed to pull both of them.
Oh those. Yeah I have no problem with that. Hard to mess that up.
Theres interrupt trackers. Spamming chat saying “I kicked dis!” achieves nothing.
In normal details interface there is an option that announces who dies to what, if you didn’t die but feel like you took too much damage just bow and thank your healer and move on. If you really want to improve, record your runs and analyse them afterwards. Everything you can die to that you can miss in combat is somehow cartographed with swirlies or otherwise, except if you stand in front of cleave mobs.
Gosh, this is quite the discussion
Just to clarify, I was looking for an add-on to see MY avoidable dmg to improve my own game. I thought this was ‘Details! - EH’, but that seems to be something different. Completely agree it would be rude and annoying to be constantly posting others’ avoidable dmg throughout the run, and apologies if I upset anyone if my original post seemed to suggest this.
I’ve since found what I was looking for on Details! (somehow missed it before) and have found it really helpful for learning the dungeons, discovering some types of dmg I thought were unavoidable that have actually turned out to be avoidable
