Dummies in World of Warcraft are designed to help you practice your muscle memory. Instead of constantly watching your action bar, you can focus on mastering your rotation and mechanics.
This practice allows you to concentrate more on the actual gameplay during dungeons and raids.
Wow I never thought about it that way.
The only class I can play completely blind is my warlock cause I play that guy since vanilla but on all my other toons I need to at least keep half an eye on my bar.
Comments, no need for the apostrophe.
Enemies, errors, posts, again no apostrophe needed.
Anyways, i didnt mean any harm with my comment, i just wanted to mention that if you call others out, you can’t make mistakes yourself.
Regarding the topic, it’s a tough one. I honestly do not think this would yield the results you would like to see, meaning players will find a way to find out beforehand if you have turned off logging and exclude you from the content.
Whatever Blizzard does, players will find a way to accurately gauge the amount of dps done, kicks used etcetera.
I have never really considered that as a viable option to be honest with you, So yes you have some merit there as I do spend a lot of time looking at the action bar in-between doing mechanics which is probably costing me a lot of DPS downtime, So that is actually a good point!. So thank you.
This is exactly what I am saying I appreciate the reply. No offense taken.
I made an error so, therefore, I cannot and should not pass judgement on others. Same way I believe that other people have no right to pass judgement on me. I do accept that it is too easy to add 's to the end of anything to make it multiple, and sometimes it is used incorrectly as per my errors.
I think this is more the point I am trying to make, regardless of logging sharing or not.
People have still not given a reason for why they need to see how other people are performing? Can someone provide me with a valid reason as to why YOU need to see someone else’s DPS or HPS or Interrupts done?
Other than for saying “You are not interrupting enough”, or “your DPS is not high enough” etc.
Also, I do understand that this information can be useful IF you are pushing the pinnacle of M+ and need to see who has what available and when and are highly coordinated but in a random pug environment in a 10 key?
I guess people will never outrightly say “It is so I can blame someone else for the failure of a group” and will always look for a scapegoat to blame.
We were struggeling with certain packs or bosses. Logs made me realise the issue wasnt me and my healing, it was factors outside of my control. If i couldnt analyze what everyone in the group was doing i’d think all deaths and wipes were my fault.
This kind of looks like you think you would blame yourself for the wipes, Why not just say “It was a group failure” not one person.
The amount of times I have seen streamers enter into 17,s and after 1 failed pull said “This is not going to happen” and then instantly quit with no further examination into meters and “whose to blame” etc is far more common than I see the latter.
As a healer it is just very usefull to find out damage patterns, what is doing a lot of damage and why are people dying. You can change your cooldown management for a next run based on it.
As a healer it is your game to keep the cubes filled. When someone dies it is the first response it is your fault. What could I have done different to prevent this?
Thats just how i am though. Im a healer and deaths i blame myself until proven otherwise. Which i use logs/details to if i feel the need to.
As a healer player for many years I used to be the same.
As a dps i need the logs to check my healing received when i die so i can prove it wasnt my fault.
Endresult: it was definitely my fault😂
For the record; the addon isn’t the one sharing the information. It is just the combat log itself in the game.
Yup I am aware of this but thank you
Look, you do not have to use such addons. I don’t. If I think I need to reevaluate what I do I’m using publicly available logs that my friends I’ve played with have already posted for themselves. But do not say that the ability should be taken away. It shouldn’t. Combat logs for everyone should exist and everyone should have the ability to do it. If anything the game should actually work with the creators of details and warcraft logs to make something that is available in the base UI and is very compatible with everything. What you really want is for people to just not be toxic but rather focus on their own growth and help others grow too. The same way you should focus on improving and helping others
Just popping back in to say as a guide writer and mentor for WoW this is Absolutely how it works for some people. You only have a certain amount of cognitive budget and the more of it you spend thinking about or looking at what button you’re going to press next the less you have to parse the situation you’re currently in and the mechanics happening.
What I consistently find with players learning, at least my spec, is there’s a very sudden jump in capability once the rotation is familiar enough it can effectively run “In the background” whilst they do and think about other things. Things suddenly just click. Building the muscle memory, in whatever way works best for you, is hugely important.
Getting the whole muscle memory thing is so important.
When I started to customise my UI and assign more keys I started to always put kick on the same key no matter what class I play. And since then my kicks git better cause my body now just knows what to do to kick
This is such a sound tip I have recently discovered after many years of alts xD I never consideed doing this xD lol #shameface
No offense meant but it you just discovered you could bind the kick to same key for each spec in order to kick better (because duh…) and are doing 10s or even 14s
I feel that really hard to believe. With all the trolling happening on GD, I begin to wonder if it is not another one.
ikr.
Kick / stun / builder / spender / whatever are generally bound to the same key where it makes sense. If it takes people years to do something this obvious then they need to think about how they think (unlikely in the extreme).
