Devastation Evoker raiding feedback

Okay so I’ve been playing Evoker as a main and with my guild we have just Raszageth to go in Vault.

Here is my honest opinion about the gameplay and mechanics of a devastation Evoker.

It is clunky, frustrating, and, because of how the fights play out, fairly weak and useless in a raid environment.

This is only my opinion, but when in a fight where an Evoker can stay still for longer than 5 to 10 seconds, it feels alright. But no fight lets you stand still. You constantly have to move or follow the boss. What does this mean for Evoker? Empowerment spells, half the time you have to cut them off because you have to move or take large damage. Standard spells (disintegrate and living flame) the amount of times I’ve used 3 essence for Disintegrate and had to move on the first tick makes it a highly frustrating ability to cast and cut short.

I use Hover, but, like I said, you constantly have to move and its on cd more often than not. Plus, you cant cast hover while using a channeled spell. So you start disintegrate, have to cancel it to cast hover, then have to wait because youve wasted essence or a proc, just to be able to avoid taking damage.

For a class advertised and pushed out as “a highly mobile class” i have found its actually the entire opposite. It is literally a gun turret. Amazing when you can stay still. Useless when you constantly have to move.

It also has what i honestly think as one of the most pointless raid buffs in the games history. 15% cd reduction on movement abilities. Sounds like its useful, but in actuality? Find me a raid group that says they need it, notice it or want it?

Then lets add in the little nitpicky bits. Im a dragon… with wings… but i need to ride a dragon to fly. (Or i can soar every 2.5mins in dragon isles with all glyphs. But then i can only use 2 abilities that dont recharge like vigor) whereas EVERY single dracthyr npc flies under its own accord. Laughing at you because you cant.

Customization, or more specifically for Visage form. Visage is a representation of your humaoid self… but… you can only be a belf male or human female despite other dragons being literally every other race.
Why cant i look like an orc fighting for the alliance? Or a gnome sitting in the middle of orgrimmar?

Especially the mobility is a joke compared to what is advertised.

Devoker is bad all around. Horrible in PvP and below average in all aspects of PvE.

Amen brother. I’m sitting here, waiting for some manner of announcement by Activision on plans to overhaul the class because it’s quite clear they bungled it.

LOL not rly…

Lol not bad in PvE at all as preservation that is, its a hard class to master and i am sure as Devastation its the same, the hardest part to learn is the positioning, and how to use the Movement skills, as preservation in some fights they are OP tbh. in fact i would rather take a preservation evoker then a Restoration shaman for Group healing tbh, Blizzard can Delete Restoration shaman because they are utterly bad.

As preservation, i agree, its amazing. But it feels like all focus went into making preservation and devastation was just an afterthought because they couldnt release it with just 1 spec.

Movement skill (singular).
For something advertised as mobile class the evoker is very immobile with everything requiring some form of channeling unless you use a very limited buff in advance.

And you cant just try to get some damage in on the move as your real damage relies on combining abilities. Only AoE can be a bit mobile with azure strike->pyre but that sucks against single targets.

And a lot of damage relies on RNG procs. Even when everything goes well many classes can outdamage you and are much more reliable.

Edit: There also is a (bad) psychological conponent with their reverse execute mastery which makes it so that your damage goes down during the fight and finishing off a low health enemy becomes a slog.
