Development Preview: Cross-Faction Instances

I’m laughing so hard at the comments about “rip wow, wow is ded”.

They people are this dense is always funny to me.

Wow will do better with the Cross faction change. Mark my words

Yep, that’s my thoughts as well.

I was thinking real hard prior to this if I should even continue playing if the situation doesn’t get better for alliance because I don’t want to play horde any more. If it hadn’t come by next expansion, I wouldn’t consider playing it I think.

I am excited about this! I have shared these news with all of my friends!

I do have some concerns though.
Will we be able to summon & assist for summon in open-world to get to dungeons for m+ etc?
It’s time for a Group Finder polish. The mythic+ rating was nice, but it’s still a “minimal effort” addition to the group finder. Creating a group should include the key level and you should be able to sort by brackets, minimal key to max key level. (Searching for 5-10 for example. On a new character, seeing 100x of 15-30+ keys are just spam).

If this feature feels well executed and wont be buggy, then I do hope cross-faction guilds come in the near future aswell. Because me personally play for m+ only basically, and creating a guild for that where all of my friends who share that drive can play together regardless of faction, race or class… that’s my dream. I think this feature would be able to greatly increase the attractiveness of guilds again imo. I do hope guild achievements, guild vendor and guild identity etc gets much more focus and love in the near future of WoW.

Back in BFA i leveled one char to max and started to compare active groups for raids and dungeons.

The difference was shocking, really.

Horde always has over double the amount of groups for m+ /raid etc.

Especially when you look into keys, even the level of keys which were run were a huge difference.

This is a great and welcome change no matter how you turn it. I can play with my friends of another faction finnaly without either having to make another faction character or them doing that! Good step forward and imho in no way an issue lorewise

I lvled characters on both factions in BFA, started with Alliance and then started lvling my horde ones after a while into season 1 and in season 2 I played almost only horde, season 3 I played a bit of both and season 4 I switched over to horde almost full time and in SL I played horde up until end of season 1, at which point I started playing my priest and druid on alliance and then I lvled my paladin just some 2 weeks ago as well.

The lack of keys on Alliance is what made me start playing horde in BFA, lol.

I have absolutely started hating playing on horde due to the races not being night elves or lightforged draenei, lol. Like, troll is ok but they’re no night elves. I wish shamans could be picked by lightforged draenei or night elves but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

This is great news and a big step in the right direction in my opinion. Having access to a larger pool of players to do instanced content with will be amazing.

Personally, I would love to be able to play both horde and alliance characters, but even after this change, there will be a couple of technical limitations which would make it very inconvenient. Playing multiple characters always involves moving mats, consumables, items and gold between them. Without cross-faction mail or some other mechanism to transfer items, it would be difficult to maintain alts of the opposing faction to your main.

Edit: Wrong take, ignore it!
(Obviously removing that barrier would have a big impact. It would essentially merge the horde and alliance economies on the server. Maybe if and when cross-faction guilds are introduced.)

Correct me if i am wrong, but i understood the AH is already cross-faction. So i guess it would be great to at least be able to send post to all your own chars, no matter horde or alliance.

You are right!
In that case there really is no reason to not have cross-faction mail or trade.

It’s definitely not. The Horde side is far more childish. Far more.

This isn’t a universally bad thing though. There can be more joy as well.

Now just add cross-faction guilds, remove faction tagging and make /s and /e cross-faction. Make 10.0 a true renaissance of World of Warcraft.

I wonder if you can create a cross faction group with a friend an then join a random que for heroics for example?

They state on the post that random matchmake activities are single-faction, but would like a little bit more clarification on this specific point.

Is there any chance you guys can re-evaluate this and let us queue random BGs with our friends too? This is absolutely a step in the right direction, and we already have the cross-faction mercenary NPCs… We just can’t sign up with friends atm for no reason.

Ye, there really isn’t, I say that as someone who plays both factions since 2006.

Once in a party together, members of the opposite faction will remain unfriendly while in the “outdoor” world (and fully hostile in War Mode!), as they do today, though they will be able to communicate through party chat

HA!

How many times has feedback been giving during beta and PTR about literally everything and anything and how often has it been ignored?

This is happening. This is definitely happening. And I don’t think they’re going to change how any of it works.

This is not BLZZARDs doing
this is PLAYERS
players forced this change on blizzard so if players want GUILDs i believe players this time around can force it again

What is the ETA for 9.2.5? October 2022?

Of course it’s Blizzard’s doing. They make the game. Just because it was requested by some players doesn’t mean Blizzard didn’t do it.

Some players?
really? did you see how many people react to this with positive attitude?
this was more then just SOME people
at least 90% of playerbase wants this because it will made your gameplay smoother on aliance side
and they can actually go back to aliance cause they like playing certain classes
I personally will switch all my characters to aliance because i prefer aliance over HORDE
but horde had always bigger pool of players to choose from so it was faster and easier to get things done
