I’ve been asking for this for literally years. My guild switched from Alliance to Horde during Legion, and I had to move with them to keep playing with my friends. I was so happy to see this announcement, but then I read that guilds will remain single-faction.
Which means I won’t (finally) race-change my main back to Alliance.
Which means this doesn’t help me at all.
I understand that under the hood this is a monumental task, but the goal has to be to make guilds cross-faction, or at least the ability to make a guild cross-faction. Otherwise this is an empty gesture, especially when it comes to raiding.
I think the same is true for random queueing too. Have 3 pools of groups, Alliance, Horde, and cross-faction. If a player toggles “cross faction” on (similarly to how war mode works) then they can be put into groups in either their faction pool and the cross-faction pool. Same with communication/open world hostility, either it’s toggled on or it’s toggled off. There’s no logical reason that members of the same group should be hostile toward each other except when in an instance.
Cross faction Guilds will kill 15 years of WoW. If you do this i would gladly go back to FFXIV. Keep them separated i can’t even think to see Alliance walk on our cities.
How will Cross-Faction Instances Effect to mythic raiding at the start of each tier ?
would we have to wait for the hall of fame to be locked for both factions before it become available?
You know that half of the horde population is aliance right??
aliance numbers are not down because people quit
but because they change from aliance to horde so they can play PVE with much bigger pool of players.
Great. I have 12 characters to faction change back to Alliance when 9.2.5 hits. That will be a big pile of gold, but heck, every single one of them is worth it.
Whee! I haven’t been this excited about anything WoW related since the announcement of TBC.
Great feature. Looking forward to hopefully the next step in 10.0 where I can chose my allegiance and set my Hearthstone to Stormwind so I can leave these filthy, warmongering barbarics called Horde for good.
You do understand that the ability to have a cross-faction guild doesn’t mean that every guild has to be cross-faction, right? If you want to keep your uber-Horde-loyalist guild, nobody is stopping you.
Nobody said or even suggested that the faction cities should be cross-faction. I just want to play with my friends while also playing a race I like, why does that ruffle your feathers so much?
Plus, a goblin complaining about gnomes is freaking hilarious.
