That’s one step in the right direction but for god sake please keep walking in that direction instead of taking 10 steps back.
Just do what you say you do, but not really, and actually listen to player feedback during the next beta phase. Shadowlands could’ve been idk how many times better if it would’ve released in a 9.1.5 state instead of being stubborn about stuff like “the ripcord doesn’t exist”. Just like the “there will never be account wide essences” in BfA, or legendary vendor in Legion. Make the expansions at least acceptable on release and improve from that point instead of waiting for people to leave and make the expansions acceptable during the last patch.
Good feature, now alliance players can do organized group content in their faction without being forced to switch.
And horde can more easily fill their roster too.
You can add bulletins/pinned notes - communities can do this
You get a chat - communities do this
You get perks and they’re quite good but you don’t need a guild full of people to do that, you can just make a solo one. I could just be Ishayu <Ishayu> and it would be just as well.
A tiiiiiny bit of gold distributed to tons of people - no reason to bother with that
You can make guild events on the calendar - however you can use community Mass Invites as well.
And that’s it. That’s all it does.
So why have a guild? Well, in most cases it’s because of the loyalty and the expectations that people put their guild above other communities because it’s exclusionary, i.e. you can only pick one, but you’re saying that you can’t be bothered with that aspect of it, in which case you’re treating your guild like a community in which case there’s no point in using it.
Of course a guild will keep itself together by using the features that are normally cross-faction, cross-realm, and you can be in multiples at once, in the context of the guild system to keep it tight-knit, and you’re just going “nah don’t need that” which is literally the death of the guild system.
I really don’t think you know how a datawarehouse works. Let’s just leave it at that.
Also, database clustering. So you use the data warehouse to make informed decisions about how to do your database clustering - putting different types of data on different clusters automatically to optimise query time and balance the load.
I know Blizzard is using cloud systems now, and I know these are standard features. These kinds of things are very common and would be very practical in a case like WoW’s AH, and allowing people to search for more things is not going to throw it off in the slightest.
Look how they say ‘‘But why shouldn’t players be able to make that choice for themselves, especially in cooperative settings where the story revolves around coming together to overcome dire threats?’’. They know as well as anyone else that people will feel they HAVE to have cross faction on otherwise no-one will join their group because of potentially longer queue.
The people saying ‘‘omg I can FINALLY play alliance!’’ are annoying me. You had a choice all along, and consciously chose to make the divide between population numbers even wider. No-one forced you to go horde.
Question is which alliance servers will feel the influx?
Will everyone just rush silvermoon or will there be a possible resurgence elsewhere, I think alliance low level toons will dramatically increase in the coming day even if it short lived. So many of us have actually forgotten half the levelling of alliance
In a way this allows more player’s agency.
If you wish to be horde-puritan, you absolutely can, playing only with horde people and still killing alliance ppl in warmode.
If you wish to get pass that and play with alliance, you can as well…
It’s up to you how to play your character. I like it. Good step.
Be honest we know practically everyone is going to queue for cross faction dungeons because it will be quicker. Even if I wanted to make an all alliance dungeon I wouldn’t because I know lots of people wouldn’t bother to join it.
I love how Horde players are mostly the ones to whine about this decision. You’re welcome to spend half of your faction to the alliance and solve this problem that way, or you can transfer to alliance yourselves. Try spending 10x more times to find a group than horde players and barely find any group for high level content. Vast majority of you would transfer back to horde in a day and never look back.
Allowing crossfaction gameplay for instanced content will only hurt those who still think that dividing a playerbase should be a core part of an mmo. Listen to your ex warchief, “times change”.
Yet I know, and that won’t magically change because you have false opinions about what I know.
And probably there is a field that is being used to currently split the data about chunks that do not need to be queried together: the realm. Once you remove the realm it is no longer possible to split the data to make it possible to work. If I search for materials there is no possible split, the query must need to check all the items I am searching from all the auctions across all realms. That is the problem with the AH, the data is not distributed equally, probably there are many items from the current expansion that has the same amount of auctions as every auction of items from previous expansions combined.
Please cross faction guilds or the possibility of a horde guild and alliance guild to join/get linked in a common charter and have a shared guild chat and see everyone connected in both guilds.
with communities it is convoluted and require every one to forego guild chats and use community chat. not ideal since cross faction guilds is still an OPT IN feature.
I am honest. If they do so, it shows how much they value faction conflict compared to easy access to content and cooperation.
It’s absolutely their choice.
And they’d show themselves be hypocrites by doing the opposite of what they propose.
Then you don’t value faction conflict over forming a group.
So why should players be forced into faction conflict at the cost of forming a group, when it’s what they don’t want to do? When it’s what YOU don’t want to do?
I only made a guild for me and my friends for the guild bank so we could just put stuff in there to give stuff to others without having to go find the other in the world or send it by mail.
